Yes. When we buried my grandmother’s ashes it was just family and friends.

The priest is there more for the living, than for the dead.

And, at times like those, we need all the help we can get!

Yes no worries on that front :)
I was curious… in the process of becoming a minister, we went over what to do at a funeral… and I always see a cleric at funerals. I was just curious if it was a mandatory thing.

on the topic of my dad it is sad. it is almost as though he now has the intelligence of a 3 year old…. we’re hoping that his memory starts to come back soon.

Wooh, you scared me, I’m glad :)
It isn’t mandatory. As a Universalist do you get trained to do funeral services for a bunch of different religions?

:) no worries.

not really. we just get a generic funeral outline, and that is it. I am looking into various religions different ceremonies so that in the even i’m ever called upon to preform one I am at least acquainted with it.
Though I hope that, that is one ceremony is one that I never have to preform.

I just wish that the registration process in Ontario would be quicker. My Brother is planning on getting married in the relatively near future, and I’m hoping that they will let me do the ceremony, but I have to be registered first… it has already been a month since I started the process.

Congrats to your brother :)
Hmm that’s a pretty long wait to get registered, are there a bunch of requirements you still have to fulfill?

I don’t even know. I called them yesterday, and they said that it could be as much as 6 weeks before I hear back, and then who knows….

It took me 10 months to get my FBI background check for my Canadian export license! Finally got that and then Canada wanted a police report from Kuwait! Without a good Kuwaiti friend, that would have been impossible!

Bureaucrats . . . Peter Drucker, the great management guru, said that bureaucracies would have all been gone by this century. How wrong he was!

The only “offical” death i’ve been to was for my step-dad. and we dident have any priest of clergy. the serman was done by an old army friend of his. And on a side note, when i got married, my husban’s dad officiated. In colorado you dont need to be married by a registraed person. anyone can do it.
