Hi, I’m 22 years old, my father is gay, my mother is
sick, homeless, and just moved in with me and my boyfriend, and there isn’t anyone to offer any kind of help or support.
My mother has many medical disorders one of which causes a shift and compression of her brain and spinal cord. She is still waiting for SSI with absolutely no information. I, myself, am in college. I worked hard, and set myself up with money (from work) I saved and a little bit left over from my student loan to be able to not work while finishing at least one semester. This is the first time I haven’t had a job since I was 14, I knew it was too good to be true.
From having to move my mother from Missouri, and now having the financial hardship of her living here I don’t have any money. She only receives $800 a month alimony that just started a few weeks ago. On top of that, the medicine that she needs costs her approximately $398 a month, leaving her $402. I need some help; financially, mentally, emotionally. She can’t get her own place, we can’t do anything. No one else in my family will help. Are there any suggestions about state aid or foundations in Michigan that offer some sort of support, even if only temporary. Please, I need some help, I’m alone and scared.
