im currently playing with the idea to move to the US from ZAR (south Africa) but dont know how to go about it… If you can help please tell me how…

hi E well first you need your passport then you’ll have to register for citizenship in the US basically thats all I can tell you on the subject

Got friends in the USA, but im looking into going to NYC, dont know anyone there so will be going solo. also looking into going to NZ, dnt know anyone there or migth even go to london, know some people whos kids are there but not directly.

to me its not about going to a place where i know someone, its more about going and doing something for myself, taking that chance and try tomake my mark…

until you acheive citizenship, you can come over on a work visa….
believe they last 4 yrs but time may have changed… either way, there is a set time, at the end, you will be forced to either become a citizen or pay for an extended work visa…

can’t qoute me on this, it’s been a while since i knew a person that went through all of this… so the laws might have changed (especially after all the ‘undocumented workers’ crap that’s been going on…) if i find anything else i’ll let you know…

I work at a U.S. Embassy. In fact I was in South Africa last month…Pretoria. You also have an embassy in Cape Town. Go talk to the Consular Officer/Visa Section. I will cost you $100.00 U.S. Dollars to even apply for a VISA. Make sure you have a plan for how to get to America, What you will do in America, know why you want to go to America, and also where in America you will go. They are going to ask a lot of questions. Do you have any American firends that you know well? It’s always nice to have someone who knows you as a reference.
