I really hate Henry Kissinger.

I would call him the most unworthy recipient of a Nobel Prize ever, if it wasn’t for the fact that that pointless honorific, handed out by a committee of Swedish eunichs, was not habitually awarded, on the most political of motivations, to the most assinine and unworthy practitioners in every respective field. Kissinger, you have disgraced the good name of Oswald Spengler by laying your fleshy and bungling palm upon his Decline of the West. You call yourself a diplomat, you horn-rimmed, grumbling toad?! You call yourself a statesman?!

It’s just that he has the reputation of being some sort of master-diplomat and a titan of realpolitik when in fact he is nothing of the kind. His misshandling of the Vietnam War should have been enough to dispell these myths, but unfortunately it wasn’t. It is only due to shear, dumb luck that he didn’t involve us in direct engagements with the Soviet Union, which no doubt was the secret wish of neo-cons within the Nixon administration.

well, as a generalized answer, it is all about the cult of personality. you go on tv and say “i am great” enough times, and the simple minded will start to say “oh, him, he is great, i heard it on tv” until the simple masses stop their lazy thinking, and learn to really think for themselves, this kind of thing will always be with us.
