why does it matter who the moderators are? why does everyone care so much

I want you to think of Jeff’s postion & what he went through making a choice. He couldnt pick everyone.

Why are you so angry with Chuy? Is it caused you didn’t get picked? Or the manner in which he picked the mods? or The mods he DID pick?

You cant just off and say goodbye with that minimal of an explinaion. Come on! What’s going on around here?

Thepp don’t let this mod picking get to you man. Your more than a moderator in most peoples eyes including mine. Please reconsider your decision on leaving. Your advice is off the charts and does a lot for most people.

and anyway the most important people on this site are the helpers

moderators just do extra stuff

they dont do extra helping

they still help obv

but they spend time moderating and all that stuff

so maybe you werent picked because your such an amazing helper

by doing this thepp your showing us that jeff made the right choice. Moderator will come back up again at some point. Now just stop pouting & show how you can handle things with grace & maybe when he needs another moderator youll have a chance. You never know

I guess the lack of a clear methodology for choosing a mod is rather annoying; for me voting would have been a better option since the users are more familiar with each other then the moderators; so in a way I understand where you are coming from but you give great advice, you are always there for everyone and you live up to the true spirit of the site which is to help people, it would be a real shame if you decide to go.

Yesterday I was leaving a answer to this person that had a health issue, and a person left amessage after mine, it was so disturbing more like sick in the head, and I’m glad help.com removed it. After I read this person message, I understood why some people leave help.com it really is discouraging.

There is all kind of people in help.com, and we don’t who is who in help.com, But I definetly know your been really helpful. Thank-you

Where did people turn against each other? I fail to see where this huge implosion of anger within Help.com occured. And we’re jumping to conclusions here, cause youre not giving us any Thepp. Its almost as bad as a suicide post, posting “Bye!” and not giving any reason. Youre wanted and loved on this site Thepp, and to say “Im leaving cause of X” and not offer why or an explination, is kind of selfish. Think about all the people youre not gonna help, that need you. And again, where is it that everyone turned on one another? Not trying to spark an argument, I just dont see the fighting youre refering to going on.

In other words Thepp, don’t leave cause of one thing. We need you and every other good person on here. One little thing shouldn’t be enough for you to leave, youre too valuable to this site.

Are you really leaving. I started crying when I read your post. I do agree with you cuz I didn’t like how the admins set up that post & had people coming on & picking. It was elementary, done in a very immature way like we are all high school kids voting on prom king & queen again.

But for me, this site is more than how the admins do that type of thing. It is about helping.

Look at how you helped me when all that crap started on here about me. I could have caved in from the hurt & pain it caused me, but the people on here like you stood by me & remained my friends & encouraged me to come back.

I did, but now you are leaving so what was the whole purpose of helping me Thepp? In life, there are going to be many things & situations out of our control that we don’t like how they are orchestrated, but we have to work within those premises cuz eventually change and a better way of doing things will come if we persist and keep pushing.

To me, to be a moderator on here would be the most boringest thing ever on this earth. I don’t want to spend my time reading people’s posts or replies for monitoring purposes cuz that isn’t helping on the level I want to help. I want to come on here and go right to notices & be left alone to respond to the cries for help when I can & thats all I want to do. I’ve never even ventured into the chatroom nor will I ever cuz that isn’t me.

Please reconsider & stay cuz if you go, then this site has lost a good person & for me it may not be worth staying either.

I wonder, when the idea for this site was born, did people anticipate all this rancor, all these hurt feelings, all this trouble? Let’s all remember why we came here in the first place. It’s about helping, about giving nuggets of advice from one’s own experience. It’s not about popularity or power or clout. Nobody owns the right to expound here.

The job of being a moderator is, I would think, primarily to ensure that this site remains about what it is supposed to be about. I would never do, because I know I would be too personal, too partisan. A moderator cannot be these things, but must have a sound judgement about the ethical issues involved in managing a place like this. He or she must never display anger or favor, but be calm.

I know that, due to the very nature of a site like this, strong emotions are going to fly, and a moderator must keep the peace. Thepp, I think you should come back and let it go. Let’s all renew our committment to keeping this place like it ought to be. Everyone should assume for themselves the responsibility to keep this place working in a good way. In that sense, we can all be moderators.

Thepp, please reconsider your decision if you would truly like to make a difference. It would be best if you were still here when they promote the next group of moderators. If you are still here you would have a say in the matter and if you are gone you won’t. Think of all the wonderful help you will be able to offer in the meantime which is why you came to this site in the first place.

Obviously he doesn’t need help with anything, aand if he doesn’t want to help others for whatever reason, then let him leave. Who cares?

I am, to say the least, disturbed by the Mod, nominations compared to the choices, and do see your point about the proccess. I was under the impresion that it was to be a decision made by the members from those nominated. I am happy with some of the choices, indefferent to others, and see a few that i think were already decided before hand. but for the flaws in that, the admin usually seem to leave us to our own devices, as long as we stay under the radar.

You and I have had differences, and we approach our responses from completely different places, but that is a good, no a GREAT thing, and I realise that this site suffers everytime one of the good ones leave.
Take your time, spend a few days angry, and hopefully we will see you soon.

Thepp dude, whatever happened to this site being like a family? wth man, just cause you disagree with who gets mod powers on this site is no reason to abandon a community that you are/ were a part of. you are better than that this makes you seem petty and i know you aren’t. relax, look at all these people that don’t want you to go.
