Is Website design an art?

Well if it wasn’t wouldnt it be simple, just a scroll down a plain white page with white text. why have buttons or colours? Is it really appreciated or is all this “ART” not even noticed.

Am i quierying my own profession? or future?

I would say as much as graphic design, software design, or user interface design, might be considered an art, as well. In my opinion, great web design should be considered an art.
