I’m not sure. I suppose you can practice by reviewing albums on Amazon.com and looking at critiques on www.allmusic.com. Maybe you can start a blog dedicated to reviewing albums. The blog would then function as your portfolio.

A lot of online rags accept freelance reviews…start there.

As a music teacher, I would suggest that you first contact a newspaper or production company to see if there are any openings for music critics in their company.
