SONGS FOR HAPPINESS/ENJOYMENT
A kid made a post about music for sadness, but i told him that sad music just makes you more sad and puts u in a whole bit rut of sadness where all the people in ur sad world seem mean or sad and everything bad (rhymes). Don’t listen to sad music. y would u want to be more sad unless you’re just too lazy to live a happy life? It’s not hard to be happy once you get the hang of it and if you give it a shot and kick sadness outa ur head. It’s worth it so i recommend happiness. Anyways, just like with sad music, the same principle correlates to happy music. If you listen to happy music, the world seems to cheer up. So lets suggest some happy music, Shall we:
Here are some of mine (song - artist):
Sugar, Suger - The Monkees
Sugar Magnolia - Grateful Dead
Soulshine - The Allman Brothers Band
a lotta songs by the Steve Miller Band
Only wanna be with you - Hottie and the Blowfish
Alright now - Free

Thanks for the suggestions!
On another note, sometimes when I am in a bad mood, happy music is like that annoying cheery person that just makes you want to grind your teeth. You know what I mean? Sometimes it’s okay to listen to sad music - it gives you inspiration.
But - I think playing happy music more will help me stay in better moods. So thanks again:)
oh i hear that, but sad music makes it even worse. so maybe there’s something in between, lol like musix that’s just good. i don’t think they have that so much these days, but in light of what u said i’ll change my suggestions:
El Paso - Grateful Dead
Scaerlet Bagonias - Grateful Dead
Terrapin Station -Grateful Dead
Beast of Burden - Rolling Stones
Something - Beatles
Soulshine - The Allman Brothers band (it’s all kinds of good)
Tweezer - Phish
Character Zero - Phish
Idealy i’d like people to suggest their own stuff, cuz i don’t think people will know/like/connect to the music i listen to cuz it’s kinda outdated.
i like this post:o) thanks Travs! sorry i dont know the latest happy music..but i just feel that i need to listen to those happy ones than those sad songs. :o)
Good idea TravelerOfWorlds :D
I’ll have to check out the ones posted :)
Here are some of the happy songs I know of:
Axus “You Make Me Feel Like Peace and Love and Happiness”
U2 “Beautiful Day”
Oye Oye “Tridev”
Edwin “Alive”
Music by Nat Cole
Duke Ellington “Don’t Get Around Much Anymore”
Michael Buble “Save the Last Dance for Me”
Louis Armstrong with Kenny G “What a Wonderful World”
Monty Python - the Lumberjack song
Happy Feet and other Swing music
Django Reinhardt “Brazil”
“Volare” (I think that’s how it’s spelled)
Edvard Grieg “Norweigian Bridal Procession”, “March of the Dwarfs” (this one sounds funny), “Wedding Day at Troldhaugen” and “In the Hall of the Mountain King” (everyone must have heard this one to the lyrics of “big, big, bigbig…” for that lottery commercial)
My mom played this song for me as a little girl
“Land of A Thousand Dances” by Wilson Pickett.
We would go crazy dancing & laugh & then my daddy would come in & join us & we’d dance all crazy and fall on the floor cuz its a fast fun song.
man that’s so cute tap, thanks for sharing.
You’re welcome. There are alot of happy songs out there, and you can find them if you take the time to look around. The kinds that get me up & going are the ones with a dance beat, the kind of beat where you can’t sit still but have to get up & dance.
When I was still working we had some of our engineers from one of our middle east offices (I think Oman)fly in to our Okla. offices. I had never met these engineers before & they spoke English quite well. But we were getting ready to build a new motor we had just designed which they were going to be using in their country so I ran up to my office to get the designs for them to study & I was up there when all of a sudden I heard “Folsom Prison Blues” by the late Johnny Cash come on over our speaker system & it was playing loud then I heard laughter & clapping & I thought what is going on & looked out the hall window into the shop area & these engineers from the Middle East were dancing & laughing & really enjoying the beat of that song. Our engineers from Okla & our corporate office based in Houston TX decided to show these engineers some of their music they like & they got into Johnny Cash music that day.
I got to giggling & couldn’t stop & all of us that worked together that day were in this high happy mood so the job went well. Sometimes the lyrics to a song aren’t important when the song has an upbeat tempo that grabs you & makes you get up & dance.
Just wanted to share that cuz a happy uplifting song, no matter where you’re from or how you’re feeling, can change your mood & lift your spirits. So I hope this person who wrote that post you referred to will read all of your lists & think about it & stop listening to sad music.
Everyone have a beautiful Sunday & Happy Earth Day.
One word…Disco!!!
But if you noticed on the “sad song” post most of those songs are pretty recent songs, and most of the songs listed on this post are pretty old songs. Not all of them, but a lot. Besides my dicso music, Queen or Styx tends to bring up the happiness.
so we need somebody happy who knows recent songs. Hhhmmmm i see a trend here. only people who know oldies are happy. we must tell someone about this…
Well, as a side point, sad songs about pain and death and broken hearts have become pretty darn popular. The world is changing.
i know, that’s exactly why i hate todays music (also cuz it suks and has no real point and little musical talent) but basically yeah, everyone today, as a result of the music, thinks that they’re supposed to be very upset and very deep and very emotional. they no idea what any of these things mean, but they know the world sucks and that everyone hates them. it’s ridiculous because it’s no true. a person should be emotional, but in a positive way. The goal should be chronic happiness, not chronic depression, but i guess it’s easier to sit in ur room cutting yourself and thinking the world sucks and hates u, than it is to go out there, make some friends and enjoy life, take some chances and have fun. be deep, be smart, e emotionally stable and most importantly, be happy. People get jobs to get more money, in order to make things easier and then they’ll be HAPPY. People follow religion being it brings ultimate HAPPINESS. Every thinking person’s ultimate goal in life is so find some form of happiness and yet it seems we’ve given up on that goal as u so correctly stated, the world is changing.
I agree TravelerOfWorlds. And disco music is fun too. I think every era of music has its happy tunes, but the stations down here tend to play the slower sadder stuff. I create my own stations or just play CDs. I don’t like listening to sad songs.
If you think about it, people during the happy-song time had a lot of problems.
I’m actually becoming irritated because the radio stations play sad music up here too, and I’m even composing sad music. Argh…it’s becoming annoying.
Okay, time to write some happy songs! and I’ll have my friend sing them.
She already wrote one that’s happy. Hopefully it will be released soon.
Well…none of it has been written down yet, so none of it has been put out yet.
Hopefully in the future some of it will be. :)
I listen to a lot of Christian music: Newsboys, Audio Adrenaline, Casting Crowns, Third Day, Big Tent Revival. There are a million more.
I do also listen to other music, but none of it is happy. I’m definately going to check out some of the suggestions.
“At The Beginning” by Anastasia
