I think, given the way this was phrased, it is unlikely your friend is talking about suicide. Mind you, it wouldn’t hurt to check. Obviously, if that is the underlying meaning to her comments, then you need to watch her and if at all possible attempt to get her to seek help.

It seems more likely that she is struggling to reconcile certain parts of her life with her interpretation of Christianity, and her relationship with God. I would certainly try to talk to her, in order to find out exactly what it is that she deems to be irreconcilable. You might also what to attempt to extend the olive branch and meet her on her own terms, in a situation which she believes is acceptable.

Matthew 10:18-22
(18) And you shall be brought before governors and kings for My sake, for a testimony against them and the nations.
(19) But when they deliver you up, take no thought how or what you shall speak; for it shall be given you in that same hour what you shall speak.
(20) For it is not you who speak, but the Spirit of your Father who speaks in you.
(21) And brother will deliver up brother to death, and the father his child. And the children shall rise up against their parents and cause them to be put to death.
(22) And you will be hated of all men for My name’s sake, but the one who endures to the end shall be kept safe.

It’s not rare for parents to not want their children to be Christian. There are a bunch of reasons for this that I won’t get into, but the important part is that there is a real possibility of a real decision where you can only have one or the other. The parents might not want the child to go to church, or something along those line. There are two key pieces of advice I would give to anyone in that situation:

Matthew 6:31-33
(31) Therefore do not be anxious, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, With what shall we be clothed?
(32) For the nations seek after all these things. For your heavenly Father knows that you have need of all these things.
(33) But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added to you.

and…
Mark 8:35-38
(35) For whoever will save his life shall lose it; but whoever shall lose his life for My sake and the gospel’s, he shall save it.
(36) For what shall it profit a man if he shall gain the whole world and lose his own soul?
(37) Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?
(38) Therefore whoever shall be ashamed of Me and of My Words in this adulterous and sinful generation, the Son of Man shall also be ashamed of him when He comes in the glory of His Father with the holy angels.

God bless!

In answer to the above post which draws heavily on the scriptures; I respect your views, however I feel a more pragmatic response is the best approach. It is unwise to be overly forceful or dogmatic in any situation involving religion.
