work help: A Close Shave, - Help.com

A Close Shave,

A single edge razor just didn’t cut it for some. So they came out with two, then three and now four razor blades, stacked on top of each other to give you a “closer shave”. Now they even have “vibrating” razors! Do all these fancy gimmicks work, or what?

Heh heh, I use an antique double edge safety razor. I have tried some of the new ones and they just don’t do a good job.

This is similar to the two I have;

depends in who is asking, they work for the people making them, cause they bring in the money, its just another way that we are sucked into comlicating our lives with gadgets and stuff that is supossedly ment to make our lives easier, but all they do is clutter up the bathroom. dam this reply is too deep and depressing to be any help to the question about razors. sorry papa!

Makes a huge difference. I use the Vibrating, 5 bladed Gillete Fusion (with a single sixth blade on the flip side for detailing, and difficult spots). It is an ultrasonic, super slick, high speed, low drag, piece of engineering which has brought much enjoyment to my life. If I try using a regular old one or two blade model now, it hurts to shave, and I get horrible razor burn.

Ooohhh La la,

I can’t wait till they bring out the 7 blade model. Do you think it will be even slicker and speedier? Maybe they can have a variable control on the vibrator, so you can get a bigger buzz for your buck. heh heh
:]

lol…I think 5 is enough, but then again, I thought three was enough a couple years ago.

BTW, did you ever see that old Saturday Night Live(I think) skit, where they intorduced a razor with like 7 blades that cut consistantly closer to the skin, but when they showed the little cartoon depiction of the face getting shaved, the hair was getting cut closer and closer, and eventually the skin was get getting ripped off, and the person shaving was bleeding out of control…lol Ha, that was funny.

I just keep my beard at the stage of longish stuble, and trim it once a week or so with an electric hairclipper. It beats shaving every morning. I’ve never had any patience for that chore. I like my facial hair, and will wear it the rest of my life, socially acceptable or not.

P.S. What’s up, Papa Bear?

My brother uses those as well. His skin is very sensitive and he says nothing works as well as those. He actually prefers the old “barber’s razors”, those things that look like a little machete or something? But I don’t think he can find replacement blades for them.

If I shave, I prefer a two blade, non swivel head razor. But my hair is really fine, so it’s not difficult to remove. And I’ve started using Veet, which is so easy and lasts several days longer than shaving. But I don’t think it works on manly stubble. :/

Veet sure sounds like the way to go for you ladies, no nicks or cuts and it probably takes less time too. I wonder how safe it is to use though?

How safe it is? I suppose it’s about as safe as any other chemical we rub into our skin. Some people do have bad reactions to it, so it should be used with caution and tested before applying on a large area of skin.

However, I have incredibly sensitive skin. There are so many things I can’t use, from lotions, to soaps, to acne creams, makeup, etc. But this doesn’t bother me at all. Of course, it is applied on my legs, not my face where my skin is most sensitive.

I also don’t use it all the time. I kind of alternate between shaving and veet. But mostly b/c the veet is expensive!

I dunno, but you would think a vibrating razor blade would cause you to nick yourself wouldnt’ it?

I don’t see how a vibrating razor would work any better than a regular one. All their fancy TV ads have not convinced me to try it. heh heh

:)

hey papa bear get a new shaver, you need a gelate phantom (it has viberating mations and that makes it easier to shave so theres not as much pain to shaving) I think they are AWSOME but I would like to have you opinion.

Give me a shout we need to message more together ( if possible)

haha they do. but they made the blades less durable so you have to buy them more often. clever. the 4 razors give you the CLOSEST shave possible and the vibrations.. uh. well they… you know ….. exfoliate ;-D
