14:03Ditzy_Doodler
yeah - its cool
14:03Ditzy_Doodler
but its also linear and trapped
14:04Ditzy_Doodler
only 1 direction in its short life
14:04Ditzy_Doodler
never connecting with any 1 or anythng
14:04TravelerOfWorlds
eh, i dissagree
14:05TravelerOfWorlds
think about it, the line i just made, should look like the top one, and yet in the bottom one all those ittle pieces come together to make something that is PERFECTLY united and solid

14:08Ditzy_Doodler
might be interesting
14:09TravelerOfWorlds
i know ditzy, but if only it [life] were [like that]

So what do u think? Do you lines? (i’d like to see responses on the literal meaning of lines (just cuz they look cool) and the more philosophical aspect of this post)

Lines are important in art; calligraphic, structural, etc. Putting them together makes for a pretty picture. Or an interesting one! :)

if life followed the path of a line, it would be nice, calm, straightfoward, YAWN, life would be boring! we would all be headed the same way, we would all be uniform, we would all have boring boring lifes, where is the fun in a line! lines are not fun, lines have a purpose, strive to complete a missison, but what would you learn as a line, nothing, you would only learn whatever you came across on your straight path, however, as a person who can jump to any part of the page you wish to be, you can learn about so many more exciting things, I am glad i am not a line. Lines are boring!

Sidani, that gives me an idea for a picture! but which lines to choose…

from what I learned in art:
vertical lines represent: strength, nobility, prominance, presence etc.
horizontal lines represent: harmony, peacefulness, stability, balance etc.
diagonal lines represent: instability, change, imbalance, uniqueness, etc.

One psych theory suggests that we prefer horizontal and vertical lines because we live inside houses most of our lives which are composed mostly of vertical and horizontal lines.

If you followed a perfect line of precise thought in a poem then the emotions in it wouldn’t be felt.

If I tapdance a perfect precise line then the excitement of all those fancy steps & tapping sounds would be dull.

Just my thoughts on this rainy lazy afternoon down south here.

Hehe, better let me see that picture once you’re done with it, E&R! And what you said about the vertical, horizontal, and diagonal lines is so true. It’s one of the first things they taught us when I was still in art school. :)

let me tell you about lines. I work for a railroad right now, and we have a certain rule. it is about speed.

see, the rail lines are straight for the most part, with a curve here, and a hill there. the temptation, on a straight line, is to go fast, because it is straight and smooth. the rules say no, because of safety. because, if you get too used to going down that straight, perfect path, when you come to a curve, or a hill, or a rough spot in the line, you don’t know how to react, and you get thrown off the track.

so, you see, straight lines are wonderful, but in their own way dangerous. so remember, if your heading down that straight , wonderful line, just stay alert, because thats when you are most vulnerable.

Lines.
Lines are important.
When you say “line” I think about waiting inline, sitting online and the line of life (palm reading).
I wish I knew the connection of all the lines in my brain.

Mathematically, lines are just straight curves.

Human bodies are curved lines & not straight lines

Words are straight lines when printed yet not when done in cursive
Either way there is power in both of the lines cuz of what makes those lines

I like the lines that Alan Alda used to deliver on M*A*S*H.

“I’m sorry, could you repeat that, father? I think the sun was in my ears.”

Plato’s allegory of the line and the cave is one of the most famous dictums in philosophy.

I do not like to wait in line (who does?)

One of my all-time favorite songs is The Eagle’s “Life in the Fast Lane”, which contains the the lines (lines!):

“There were lines on their mirror,
lines on her face”

I’ve alays been partial to planes myself. Want to do those now?

There are very few straight lines in nature.

The horizon line looks like a straight line, but as you move away it starts to curve until eventually it becomes one big curved line with no beginning and no end.

It actually isn’t a line, is it? It doesn’t even really exist…

Hey, I was outside tapping one evening & I jumped hard & landed on the horizon & was tapping away when it curved down suddenly & I lost my balance & fell off. Its a straight and curved line………

as i wrote above. Line are pretty because they have an ideal level of connectedness and unification. all point int he line are connected and necassary to form the line and they all are pointing in the same direction (so to speak). Two potentially negative things about line is that they they have very definite ends. there’s no gray area and no room for mistake. This make the bare whiteness seem even more lonely than if the line weren’t there. Additionally, could it be that the connectedness and straightness of it is just too perfect for this world, a world where nothing is perfect? Maybe the black line is insignificant, just a use breakup of a two white sections 9above and below the line) that otherwise could/SHOULD have been on contingent unit….hhmmmmm…. i like lines i think.

lines in conversations for me would mean one is giving the other person space to think and bridge the hidden meanings of the words that are basically not said.
oh well. :P

everything and everyone is composed of lines, they are just shorter or longer and they travel in different directions to each other, sometimes through time and space. so in a way, infinity is kinda entirely composed of lines.
