Creepy crawly creatures…..So I have 2 dogs, a black lab mix and a shepherd/wolf. We all love to be in the woods and at the beach (even though lake superior is like 50 degrees year round). I’ve found several ticks on each of them and several on myself…crawling on me in the middle of the night EWWW!!!My roommates just pick them off and flush them but uhhhh what a nasty little parasite to find in your bed. I have both of them treated with frontline but I’m guessing in and out of the water like they are it probably washes off pretty quick. The collars don’t work and I’ve heard its bad to shampoo them with the flea and tick stuff all the time. Does anyone have a favorite product for this problem? Should we all just go get lymes diseas vaccines?

Did the ticks actually bite you? If not, would be too concerned.

Frontline is absorded by the dog’s body. It will not wash off. But, it does not keep the ticks off your dogs, they just don’t stay on the dog’s body.

Good luck..

yuck….yea one bit me last night it was a very small one. I got my roommate up at 4 am to take it off. .. he wasn’t pleased. Hmmm the ticks I have found on them have bitten though, I called the vet she said just to treat them again….its getting kind of expensive.

ha I did get a bad flea infestation while on the appalachian trail and I did end up using dog shampoo for that :) I washed all my gear in it too. hmm I know I got the head out on the dog but on myself well it had just bitten and came off with just a swipe there is no mark or anything so I guess we got it.

I just got some flea and tick shampoo and I’ll just wash them once a week. . . they smell bad anyway.

I hope that won’t speak for the mosquitos and black flies this year.
