i go to court on the 14 of this month for my divorce

but it is only the first court date where we set up to see what we will fight about and the final court date. my husband refuses to come to court so does that mean that i am stuck with him? i have an order of protection against him but he keeps writing me letters and his mood changes to so many things and he said i belong to him. i want out of this marriage. what happens if he does not show up for court? he refuses to give me this divorce he says i have to figure out how to do it on my own so please tell me what i can do.

It does vary from state to state. Go to the judge and explain the situation. I have heard of people running ads in the public notice section of the paper filing for divorce. If spouse doesn’t respond then the divorce is finalized. Check with your attorney for all options. Show the judge the letters, etc. It will only strengthen your case.
