My friends and I had been invited to go to a big wedding this next weekend.

It had been planned for months. Today in my mail, we get a notice that they are postponing the wedding because of——bedbugs—–!!!! What is up with this? Anyone know about an outbreak of bedbugs in this country? Ewwww. I’m twitching at the thought!

ew, are they living in NYC? if they live in an apartment building or adjoining type of living facility then bedbugs are really easy to get…if you have nasty neighbours. It is semi-common in NYC to hear of these outbreaks, and they are really terrible little creatures.

Actually I saw a report sometime back on MSNBC and another news channel that bedbugs are making a comeback. Some universities around the U.S. had infestations in their dorms & they had to do whatever it is they do to get rid of them or exterminate them.

Their little critters that get into or onto one’s bed (mattress) & they bite or nip you & they make you itch all over from what I understand. I’m just going by the news report I saw. I don’t know where they come from or how they get into one’s bed….

This is all I know

well, I don’t know what this would have to do with their wedding, but I guess that they have their reasons. Thanks for the responses. I always thought that bedbugs were just something that my grandfather joked about. “Don’t let the bedbugs bite”. Yes the wedding was supposed to be in NYC!

Ok then! My friend lived way uptown and they had a terrible infestation of bedbugs which forced his roommate to move out. They leave terrible bite marks, and if the bride had a dress with lots of skin showing she may have felt embarassed and didn’t want to ruin her day. Not to mention that if family would stay with them it would be equally embarassing to pass on bedbugs.

Ohhhhhh then I see. Oh gosh. This sounds like a science fiction thingy. Are you also saying that these things are contagious? No sleep tonight.

Its not like they crawl under your skin. They hide behind picture frames in walls baseboards, in matresses and in carpet. If they are in any of that good friggen luck. They are becoming immune to insecticides and bombs, so you have to basically do something like wrap the bed and clean all the clutter out of whatever room and basically do a thorough cleaning. They arent attracted to filth or dirt… They are attracted to clutter, they are attracted to body heat and carbon monoxide they are mutant fleas in my eyes… annoying bloodsucking fleas that wait until a couple hours before dawn to strike and then tear you up. We had a problem with them before and I keep an exceptionally clean apartment, but one of the people we know apparantly brought some over in their stuff and now the little suckers wont die in this apartment we are in they can live dormant for up to a year or more. Best bet.. wrap the bed if you can’t throw it out. They sell bedbug proof matress covers then just lay those flea traps that have the light and sticky tape should stop them and make sure your bed is elevated and you have the double sided tape along the bottom of the bed where they can climb up they are known to live 100ft from the “hosts” they wont wander much further though and they can climb walls to drop down. Little suckers are smart. I’ve done my homework.
