Money help: I am a nice normal mom of 3, I work hard, have a home, I make just enough to keep it together. - Help.com

I am a nice normal mom of 3, I work hard, have a home, I make just enough to keep it together.

The kids are gone as of August, the house needs work, I have a dream. I need the nerve to let the house go, quit my job, and to try to live my dream as an artist. I sell my art, yes. But I only have about 4 hours most days to spend. I’ve never really suffered for it. I need support, or inspiration, or faith… something that will help. (money, lol of course) no, I can suffer a little. Please give some input. Noone has ever really supported my efforts seriously, not even myself, so I can’t blame them.

Do you have a husband?

Geez, strange first question.
No. If I had a husband I wouldn’t publicly air my personal laundry. I’d say “honey, can we afford for me to drop out while you work your butt off? Nope. Just me. NOT looking for anything but an art foundation, or somebody who hase bravely gone it alone.

If you have sufficient money, sufficient talent, and a good work ethic, then I don’t see why you couldn’t do this. If you put your mind to it, You can certainly make it work.

If you plan to pay back the money , you can ask for a business loan at Prosper. People may help you. More information at http://www.acreditlibrary.com/prosper…

You can also try your luck at online charities, people may send donations. More information at http://www.laodn.org/

Well, that’s the thing. I DO sell my art, and it has always been my dream to spend all my time making it. I work 54 hours a week as an office mgr/ bkkpr, and often do not feel really inspired to paint when I get home. I’m tired of all the crap at work, I’ve raised my wonderful kids, I honestly do not want charity or a loan I may not be able to pay back. I’m looking for the courage to jump ship, to quit my job and see if I can do it. I need to take a leap of faith. I only took home $460. from the gallery last month and supplies cost about $100. out of that. My delusional pea brain keeps telling me that if I quit my job I could devote a lot more time to art. My logical brain reminds me that I need health insurance and food and a roof over my head.
A $20,000. grant would buy me 6 months IF I MADE NO profit. I was hoping for that, until I began seeing all the problems in the posts. $20,000. is FAR better spent on a sick baby with no insurance. SO, I just want a push, input from someone that did it, support, whatever. THANKSSSSS

What you have to relax and set your mind to whatever seems best, I know I’m only thirteen, but my mom has problems sort of like that.

She is starting a business called “Kids With Courage” an she has to take care of me and my 2 sisters (I’m the middle brother) she has some time while we’re at school but usually she works.

She is relaxed and cool. I think her business is gonna turn out great. :)

wiley108 are you not the sweetest? Cool is something I never am, but we should all aspire to it… your mom sounds really together. I think with your help and support her business WILL turn out great! If she needs any art, a logo or help with it, I’ll be happy to contribute as best that I can.
PS Kids with Courage help grown-up wimps!

Thank you- I meant to thank you before.
Yes it’s my art in the picture. I’ve been dreaming about it since I was 6. I’m 48, my kids are just now on their own, and all the things that kept me in a safe responsible job don’t seem QUITE as important. But I’m really afraid I don’t have what it takes. You’re the writer, you’re young, your life is ahead of you. My second life is just ahead of me. And I’m petrified to take the step.
Maybe I should rent my rooms in my home to other artists for just enough to keep us all going- then I might dare….
