Are you looking for answers about problems with your AOL service?

I’d like to recommend that you ask AOL directly since they are best suited to help you.

For AOL support, you can visit the AOL support site or even call them at an AOL toll free number.

If you use AOL, leave it. Click the update button. Let me know if you aren’t using AOL at all.

I would be careful with this update request, when I tried to look up the aol update, I was blocked by aol, informing me that the web I was trying to contact , was indeed a phish, I had once before, that I did click and it just kept repeating itself, and was the biggest pest, finally it went away, DO NO UPDATE IT, get in touch with aol, it seems to have aol logo, but don’t trust it,

I have the same problem. Did you ever “fix” it?

The same exact thing keeps happening to me! I have tried several things to remove it such as using the anti-adware program, my security software ,and now I am trying to defrag my computer. I am ready to SCREAM! It is sooooooooooo highly annoying. Since I switched to AOL free service it has been happening, so of course now I can’t call AOL for support. Hmmmmm, maybe it’s done on purpose so I switch back. If you have a solution please post it. I would appreciate it.

I have this “AOL Connectivity Services” popup that purports to be AOL software. However, I am reluctant to click on the “Update Now” box because it could be an attempt to put something bad on my computer like a Trojan Horse or something that might erase my hard drive directories. This popup won’t go away. I want to get rid of this popup. I do not think I need the update. Can you, AOL, confirm that I need an update to my AOL software and that I should click on the “Update Now” box? Or, how can I get rid of this popup?

Hi
Do not no if this will help anybody or how safe it is, Not a computer wiz so its up to you if you want to try it. Have had problems for months with this little blue box popping up with update for AOL Connectivity Service, Updated it 3 times and caused lots of problems including getting grey box saying AOL will now install the files needed for AOL to connect to the Internet (or words close to that. AOL Live Help were there usual Rubbish Self (In other words no help at all) Phone Tech Supports and all they could come up with was install AOL 9 VR. Other than that they were as much good as Live Help.
Anyway i am using a wireless Router, Aol 9 & Windows XP. So decided to see what i could find on the net most did not work still kept getting them, Finally found that id i did the Ctrl Alt Delete and got into Task Manager and checked in there found something called AOLDIAL.EXE if i ended that process the Blue Update Box went, So i then went int Start, Search and typed in AOLDIAL.EXE into Both the boxes it found the Little Blighter in C, Programs,Common Files, So i wrote down AOLDIAL.EXE to remember it (in case i have to put it back) and renamed it, Now 3 days gone by without the update coming back, Keeping my fingers crossed, Had no problems connecting to AOL since, Remember it up to you if you want to try it it does not seem to have caused me any problems, BUT YOU TRY IT AT YOUR OWN RISK

I have a new laptop (Vista) and AOL VR. That little box appeared on my screen too and after a while, cos it was annoying me so much, I thought I might as well do as it was asking and update. BIG MISTAKE!!! I cannot connect to the internet at all on my new laptop and am absolutely livid. I phoned AOL help services, what a waste of time. Apparently AOL know this is popping up on people’s screens and that if clicked on it will corrupt your files - GREAT HEY!! They said they would send me another AOL VR disk to install - or I could buy one - what a bloody cheek! A month later nothing has arrived of course - we are paying £24.99 a month for sweet F.A.

Have noted the comment above about a possible solution Ged, thanks for that, you’re more help than AOL that’s for sure!

We did download AOL VR from the net and it worked for a few days and then went back to saying it can’t connect.

I did the above, but it said I have no malware. Therefore … AOL is doing this. I just want to delete AOL Spyware period!! I found no where on my computer to just delete that. It seems to be within AOL itself. I can’t believe there’s all these questions, yet no one can see to find a way to delete AOL’s spyware. And .. like most people .. I do not pay for AOL, therefore I cannot access their support!

I’VE FOUND A SOLUTION THAT HAS WORKED FOR MY COMPUTER!!

I tried uninstalling aol and re’installing the earlier versions and the latest yet i still got the same annoying message. However i killed two birds with one stone. i installed version 9.5 and still got the message.

To stop the automatic updates which slows down the computer (and what i blame for all this aggro)

1. go into control panel
2. near the top right i clicked the ‘view by;’ button and changed the view from category to small icons
3. now i could see the icon ‘administrative tools’ double click on it
4. double click on services
5. On my computer the ‘AOL Connectivity Service’ , its status was manual. so i double clicked on it and changed it to automatic.
6. i then clicked on apply, then ok and closed down the windows.

This worked for our computer and aol 9.5 has worked fine.

Extra. I’m not sure if this made any difference, but afterwards i opened up the run programme (i searched ‘run’ on the menu bar’ and typed in msconfig.exe i then went into the start up subsection and disabled aol and aol service libraries from starting when i turn the computer on. this stopped aol from popping up straight away when i turn the laptop on, which slows the computer down. (and i stopped realplayer and hp digital imaging and the liteon videowebcam, these didn’t cause the problem but i’m recording EVERYTHING that i done, as i’ve spent a day on this! and couldn’t find any other solutions that worked.

good luck.
