Love help: I’ve worked at my job for a year and a half and I love it. - Help.com

I’ve worked at my job for a year and a half and I love it.

I work at a very high profile, famous pizza restaurant in CT. I love (most) of the people I work with, and the customers I see weekly of which I know and love. I get paid excellent money and I just really wouldn’t trade my job for anything. But recently, a lot of stuff has been bothering me about it. One in particular. I have always been really close with my friend Tony. A few weeks ago my boss Mark invited me to go to a wedding and I said yes. He told me not to tell anyone, but then everyone found out because of one reason or another. And Tony, my friend started making fun of me about it. And instead of just going along with it, I was furious and was expecting an apology of which I still haven’t gotten. Now he hasn’t talked to me all week. Should I just accept the fact that he won’t apologize, or should I wait for him? Was he really my friend at all, knowing he hurt my feelings, and saying nothing about it? Did I over react? HELP!

Every job develops drama in some way. Be the bigger person and show that it doesn’t bother you. It will diffuse quicker.

One reason or another? Did you have anything to do with it? Was it all in fun or did some of the “family” take it to serious? What is your objective? To keep him as a friend or getting a apology? Are you willing to give him up as a friend or is that apology that important? what do you think?

I agree with Thargor on this one. Don’t let these things bother you. You know you probably shouldn’t have said anything about going.

They were just have a joke about you going to a wedding with your boss, i’m sure it was harmless and now it’s gotta out of hand, which sometimes it happens. Best to just apologise and get it out of the way and carry on as normal.

Your completely useless as a Zen Jedi, I don’t even know why your trying. Two minutes locked in a room with your sisters and you’d turn to the dark side.

AFwooper, English are allowed to do what they like with the language ‘English’, once you’ve created ‘American’ you can moan about others bollocking it up all you like…lol!

Anyway, you can’t even spell Brasil correctly, poor buggers must wonder what on earth they did to offend you in such a way.

No they’re not. They’re allowed to do what they want with the language within the parameters of grammar and common sense.

You’re annoying and your arguments are weak, plus your advice sucked.

English is a versatile language that is constantly changing. No one has a greater right to change it than the English. The greatest writer and arguably master of the English word ‘Shakespeare’ constantly changed how we think of the language and even made words up without explanation, people had to adapt. This was OK because he was an Englishman being creative and not being a lazy American who uses Z’s instead of S’s. A lot of Americans abbreviate words not for a better more colourful effect but purely because they are too lazy to even learn them correctly.

We have to stop this american bashing, you know we enjoy it too much and it will all end in tears.

Tears? Hardly. I’m pretty sure that changing English wouldn’t result in incorrect usage, Splat. Did you see me abbreviate anything? Your arguments are weak. Stop defending the douche. It makes me laugh still, ‘your a adult.’ Thanks for the giggle.

You keep saying about arguements being weak, you’ve not actually put an arguement forward as of yet. In fact all you’ve managed to do is insult me and any advice i have given because i believed that sometimes you have to apologise to carry on and enjoy your work. So maybe it’s not us who are weak, but rather yourself?

As for the comment ‘your a adult’, it is meant as just that. You sound like a typical american female who believes that their view is the only view and all the rest are incorrect.

Do you even know any “american females?” I happen to know more about the situation than you do, and I know that its not her that needs to apologiZe.

My arguments are that you are excusing your incorrect grammar because you’re English, and that isn’t a good enough argument.

You were the one who started the argument. You made fun of my spelling which was correct, and then used the language wrong yourself. Your defense was that you were English and had that right. That’s not a good argument and a piss-poor defense. You brought the country thing into it, not me.

Actually it’s incorrect as I advised due to the ‘z’ (Oxford English dictionary) and the fact that you know more of the situation and still continue to say ‘don’t apologise, he should’ makes me believe in my belief of your typical American ideology, as she asked for different views I offered mine.

Anyone who wants their work environment to be easy going will do away with their own pride and apologise to get past the issue so they can carry on with work…after work is another issue. It’s called being a grown up, the fact that you laugh at this makes me laugh as well.

And yes I’ve known American females from university. As for the argument for the language ‘English’ and being ‘English’ it makes a kind of sense, because well it’s my language (America can find their own). The country thing was my fault but I couldn’t happy it.

You couldn’t happy it? You don’t make sense. You are unintelligent, unoriginal and unhelpful. Why are you on this website?

p.s. I know the situation, and you shouldn’t apologize for someone else’s mistake. That makes you a doormat.

AFwooper you are an extremely boring person. I’m sure one day you’ll learn in time to grow up and then maybe you’ll be able to hold your tongue and have a decent conversation. Until then don’t take the job as diplomat for transatlantic relations.

Your calling someone on this site “unintelligent, unoriginal and unhelpful” and your asking me why I’m on this site? It’s help.com not insult.com.

I made a typo, it happens. You keep saying you know the situation, care to enlighten us so we can have a better view? It would have to be a very good reason to be stubborn and ruin a otherwise great job.
