Does anyone out there know any really good products for acne?

I am 22 years old and I still struggle with it, my worst area is my upper neck/jaw line..it hurts, it looks awful and I am sick of it. Anyone know of a good cure that wont break my pocketbook? Please only tell me stuff if you have actually seen it work, not just on tv:)

Do not despair for there is help for acne sufferers.

Proactiv is very good. Neutragena has some wonderful products for acne priced right.

Basically you are looking for one of three ingredients; salicylic acid, glycolic acid, or a retinoid, such as Accutane (pills), Retin-A and Avita (gels).

Most health ins. covers acne meds.

When I was in highschool, they put me on Accutane, but it didnt work. BUT, I must say that I was not as responsible back then so it might work better now, except I remember my doctor repeatidly asking if I was sexually active because if there was any chance I would get pregnant it could really harm the baby, and the thing is, I am still not 100% sure that I am not. I dont think I am, but it has been since the first week in Feb. So I am guessing they cant help me much, but to anwser your question - no- I have not seen a dermatologist lately, not for 6 or so years.

If Accutane didn’t work for you either, ask your dermatologist about this: CL1% in Acetoxyl 2.5% gel. It peels the skin without any inflammation or flakiness. It also rids of marks and scars.

Also, M.A.C. face powder works Really well for covering up any redness, giving an overall even skin tone, while still looking natural.

Also, when you use the perscription, wear spray-on, alcohol-based sunscreen on your face everyday, even in winter, to protect your skin.

you’re welcome! :D

The retinoid gels are not a problem during pregnancy or any other time, but if you are looking for an over-the-counter treatment do try salicylic acid. It is readily available and inexpensi

Most people make the mistake of over drying the skin with product. This causes the skin to produce more oil to clog pores. I had bad acne and tried everything. Then I added Oil of Olay for sensitive skin. It was a miracle.

Your welcome. ;) I use bare minerals. Totally covers, doesn’t clog and provides sun screen, which I need cuz I use Retin-A. It is not just for acne; it keeps the wrinkles away. Be happy you don’t have to worry about that, yet!

Accutane is a bad idea. My doctor basically told me that he would not prescribe it since he has a moral rule where he would not prescribe drugs which he would not prescribe to his own children.

Go see a dermatologist. Chances are you simply saw a General Practitioner. Dermatologists are specialists of the skin.

Do not use proactiv. It is over priced. The only active medicinal ingredient in proactive is “Benzoyl Peroxide 2.5%”

There are many other generic acme medications that have that exact same ingredient for much cheaper. Get your doc to prescribe it.
