Insurance help: My engine on my 2004 Dodge Ram shot craps today. - Help.com

My engine on my 2004 Dodge Ram shot craps today.

The truck has 46,000 miles on it. It could cost $5,000+ to repair. This is a problem in my fledgling company. A problem I don’t know how to handle. There is no insurance or warranty action available. What should I do? Please Help.

Yeah should be on warranty.

This should be a lesson to you: NEVER EVER EVER buy a vehicle from an American automobile company. GM made cars are notorious for lack of quality. This is one reason why Toyota is now beating GM in sales.

Get something Japanese. My old Honda civic had over 250,000KM on it. my neighbors Toyota Tercel has over 300,000KM on it. Whereas a friend mine who bought a GM had his transmission blow after 50,000KM.

Depends on the company. North American automakers have questionable ethics.

[Ford pinto]
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_Pinto

“…major scandal when it was alleged that the car’s design allowed its fuel tank to be easily damaged in the event of a rear-end collision which sometimes resulted in deadly fires and explosions…Ford was aware of this design flaw but allegedly refused to pay what was characterized as the minimal expense of a redesign. Instead, it was argued, Ford decided it would be cheaper to pay off possible lawsuits for resulting deaths”

Ford decided to pay off lawsuits rather than fix the problem to prevent future deaths.

If you have not yet done this, have a “Dealer” run a “Vin.” check on your truck. As there are warranties on certain factory defects in their products that thay don’t put in the newspaper every day. Also there are what is called “Secret” warranties that even a “Dealer” won’t talk about. If that don’t work, then call the office of “Ralf Nader” and his staff should be able to shed some light on your problem. As he was the person years ago, who took the “Corvair” off the road. His staff would know about the “Secret” warranty part. Hope this can help you solve your problem with a vehicle with such low miles on it.
