post help: I have an idea for a new feature that I would like to propose. - Help.com

I have an idea for a new feature that I would like to propose.

I was thinking about this as I was logged in late last night. I saw a few interesting posts come down that I really wanted to answer, but I was getting drowsy. It occured to me that there was some sort of “Reply Later” option that I could click on to remember them by, I could come back the next day with a fresh mind and really get into them.

Perhaps a “Reply Later” file on one’s account administration page might not be a bad idea. The option could appear on the post page underneath the post along with the other options currently there, i.e. edit post, report post, subscribe to replies, etc. By clicking on that option, one could store that post in a file for easy rememberance later.

I know it’s already possible to do the same basic thing by subscribing to updates and storing the post on one’s subscription page, but it may be more convenient this way.

My Tapdancer and I were just discussing this, and we would both be interested in hearing any opinions you may have. Tell us what you think.

I was so sure this was going to be a request for a Jonetta-hearts-Matt message of the day feature.

Shifting gears.

Yes, I’ve had the same issue. I’ll see a post I want to mull over a few days, or be too tired to reply to coherently, and lose track. I’ve been making a short reply, so at least I’m subscribed and get notices when others post, but it’s clunky and unreliable.

I’d like to be able to flag a post for later reply, and see a link to flagged posts in the account box at the top of the page along side notices and shouts.

lol…..

Okay oster-gar, I may make that suggestion now that you’ve brought it up…

Seriously, I’m like Matt. I come on late some days & end up being too tired to reply to some but want to. But if I don’t reply to that post immediately then I lose it and have to back track through all of the posts on the main page to find it. This feature would eliminate all of that searching.

I think that is a great idea, since leaving a problem for 8 hours or so to sleep or do other activities, will help one solve it more easily.

I think it’s a great idea. After I’m away from my computer for a few days on a trip, I come back and there are over 100 new posts. This would allow me to skim them, mark ones I’m interested in responding to, and then come back when I can concentrate.

I can’t take care of this immediately (it requires some database updates and such) as I’m working on other cool features, but I can tell you I’ve added it to the ‘feature list’ we track things with.
