So whats an HPV shot?

Some of my friends who are girls were talking about it and I was curious as to why they had to get it. I know it is for the prevention of cervical cancer but I am curious as to why they had to get it. One said she got it twice. So what is the deal with the shot? Please use substitution for words that would be caught by the child blocker on the site, at 17 its still locking me out of some threads that I replied to. Thanks.

I don’t know much about it, but from what I understand its basically a shot you can take so you don’t get cervical cancer, and apparently when you and another man do something together it could increase the risk of cancer, or maybe its a specific disease that makes you more prone to the cancer. Basically your friends are intimate with men, or they are protecting themselves in case they do become intimate with a man.

Human Papilloma Virus causes most cases of cervical cancer. Most people have it and it doesn’t always evolve into cancer, but the shot helps your chances of not getting cervical cancer.

So at 15 and 16 do you think they got it as a precautionary measure or that they were intimate?

She didn’t get it twice, she probably just got the follow-up shot. i think ther eare two follow-up shots. I don’t think it matters if you’ve been intimate or not, most people have it anyways.
They’re starting to give it to 12 year old girls. They are at the best age. The younger you are when you get the shot the better your chances of not getting cervical cancer.
