.Bend and stretch
Reach for the sky
Stand on tippytoe
Oh so high……
Romper Room was absolutely my favorite TV show when I was a little one. Well, right smack dab next to Sesame Street, that is.
And Mr. Rogers, of course.
What were your “must sees” during your childhood years?
Do you remember the theme songs? Maybe some lyrics?
Have fun remembering!!!

ohh gosh. i was a die hard captain planet fan. i remember the lyrics perfectly
by your powers combined, i am captain planet!
captain planet, he’s our hero, gonna take pollution down to zero
he’s our powers magnified, and he’s fighting on the planet’s side
gonna help him put asunder, bad guys who like to loot and plunder
‘you’ll pay for this captain planet!”
we’re the planeteers
and you can be one too
cause saving our planet is the thing to do!
looting and polluting is not the way, hear what captian planet has to say
‘the power is YOURS!!!!!’
classic. i still watch it when it comes on. that sexy green mullet. classic.
Oh yea! Hi Finley….This was totally a cool show.
This one and Masters of the Universe, She-Ra….
I sure do wish that I could sit and watch these again!
and teenage mutant ninja turtles is a given. i used to be raphael.
lol…my little brother used to collect everything possible with the TMNTs. I mean there was stuff on every flat surface. And Raphael ruled!
I remember getting all dressed up for my first day of school ever. There was a show on while Mom was getting me together.
Aw, I was crying and sniffling and the show was, I believe, The Great Space Coaster.
Weird show, with KnockKnock the bird.
Sheesh I still cry like that every morning getting ready to go to work. LOL!
you guys sure make me feel old, ha ha. anyone remember captain kangeroo? rocky and bullwinkle? gee, i am old…
or, the electric company? you cant do that on television?
Oh yes…the Electric Company.
You can’t do that on Television……that one stumps me. Was that a Ncikelodean show? The one where they got gooped alot?
Captain Kangaroo? Bob Keeshan? With Mr. GreenJeans? Bunny Rabbit? Grandfather clock?
Mr Moose!!!!! LOL!!!!!!
Rocky and Bullwinkle too.
I LOVE Fractured Fairytales.
Hmmmm, no I don’t remember!
I remember them all. I use to like snorks and smurfs and care bears. Plus the classic Flintstones, Tom and Jerry and Jetsons. Animaniacs are cool and of couse the Simpsons. I use to love Wonder Woman and Chips as well. Because I had a younger brother I’d always watch Transformers and He-man too. And Bozo the Clown (use to love when they got kids to throw ping pong palls into buckets to win prizes).
So I feel that I am well rounded with cartoons.
They don’t make em like they use to.
No, Bex, they sure don’t.
Oh the Flintstones. Yep, that was definitely one of my all time favorites.
Hmmm, by the way, does anyone know what Barney’s occupation was?
We know that Fred worked at the Quarry.
But what did Barney do?
Smurfs were cool, too.
Bozo used to scare the mess out of me.
Clowns still do….ewwwww.
Tom and Jerry used to keep me rolling on the floor. You know, Toms BIGGGG scream!! LOL!!!!!
I thought Barney worked at the Quarry with Fred.
Hmmmm, I don’t know. Maybe someone can shed some light on it.
LOL….also another Flintstone thingy….My older brothers were always arguing one point:
Wilma or Betty?
Fred or Barney?
You know, one of those “which would you date?”
Well, you know……
Hello, Moonmaiden. Do you remember the Muppett Babies? I loved that show so much. Miss Piggy and Kermit are just the funniest characters! I haven’t seen this show in quite a while.
Also, how about Alvin and the Chimpmunks? Alvin, Simon, Theodore! Doo-doo, doodoodoodoo!
The Great Space Coaster was a good laugh too.
Hi amandamarie–Oh yeah I remember the Muppett Babies. That was a favorite of mine also.
And Alvin and the chipmunks was a really cool show too. I actually got their big music van with figures for Christmas of 83. We played with that thing till it literally fall to pieces.
Hey thanks for the memory! :o)
the brave little toaster owns my soul.
and all john wayne movies. i know im a freak but that’s just what i grew up on so its right up there with captain planet. my dad used to tell me i wasn’t allowed to watch power rangers because i wasn’t a boy. so he’d turn it off and put in the sands of iwo jima or fort apache.
Hi again Finley…..Weird. As I am typing this, I am watching Hatari with the Duke. I LOVE THIS MAN!!! After this movie, I am going to watch The Quiet Man with John Wayne. He is awesome.
And yep, I understand about the Power Rangers.
My folks kinda frowned on them too. For the same reason!

omg a fellow john wayne lover!!! i am a john wayne fanatic. i have a lifesize cardboard cutout of him ten feet away from me right now. not to mention calendars and posters and almost every movie he has ever made. the quiet man is fabulously smashing. i love him and maureen o’hara together. rio grande was my fav with them. that or mcclintock. have you seen the sands of iwo jima? it’ll make you cry like a little girl i swear. the scene where john wayne has to leave the man behind and you see a tear… omg choked up just thinking about it.
I remember watching Iwo Jima with my Dad a while back before he passed. I only saw my Dad cry a few times in my life. After watching this movie was one of them.
I was raised on John Wayne also.
When I attended the Police Academy here, they called me “Jane Wayne”.
COOL!!!! A little lady with a 6 shooter!!! :o)
hahaha that’s great… im so happy there’s someone else out there that’s been raised on him lol it gets lonely sometimes.
what is it about that ‘leaving a man behind’ scenario that breaks the strongest of them? if a guy didn’t cry during that there would have to be something horribly wrong with him.
are you still a cop?
Finley…..no not still in law enforcement.:o(
Had a serious back injury and got put in dispatch a couple of years ago.
It just wasn’t what I wanted and needed so I resigned and went on to other things.
After being a big part of the streets here, sitting in front of a computer with a TON of stress just got me very depressed.
So nowadays, I am involved in the PI business.
Now THAT is cool!
Hope that you have a great weekend!
Oh……how on earth is your hand?
Hope that it heals quickly for you.
I smashed my right hand a while back, and oh gawd did that hurt.
Just hang in there, babe…..
Good Morning, Moonie!!!!!
I just found a dvd of Great Space Coaster.I haven’t viewed it yet, but I loved that show too.
Hey who doesn’t love John Wayne!! Strong, handsome, rugged.
I LOVE COPS!!!
(just a little secret among friends)
okay this may seem really lame but I used to watch a show called Eureka’s castle. I actually had a nightmare about it when i was little:
I was up in the bat thing’s room and both the bat and dragon were there. They looked in a mirror and had no eyes! I got so upset. I woke up and ran into the bathroom to see if I had my eyes still–luckily i did. Then I thought: “Oh my! Do my parents have eyes?!” I ran in their room… but they were sleeping. So i slept on their floor to see first thing in the morning. Luckily, they too were okay.
haha, Eureka freaked me out. I think I watched it like once..no wonder you had a nightmare.
http://www.retrojunk.com/ here is a site that has a bunch of the ‘good’ shows. Some you can even watch episodes of… (actually a lot)
