What is turf brown?

It comes from the Bogs of Ireland, sometimes in the shape of bog oak - a kind of soft wood ideal for carving

i have found out that it is a type of algae. turf is a name for a piece of earth taken from the ground. peat turf is farmed in ireland, dried and then used as fuel which when burned on an open fire gives off a gorgeous scent and is a tremendous source of heat. ahhh - you’ve made me think of winter - thank you after a rainy summer day in ireland.
