Anyone here live in N.C.
near Charlotte? I’m thinking of moving down that way and wanted to get some opinions.

i live here now but want to move. taxes are getting unreal here they keep raising them and most people aren’t that friendly. i have been here for 25yrs and ready to go. but it’s something you will have to deciede for yourself.
Compared to the NY/NJ area the taxes down there are amazing. I pay 3800 in taxes for a condo in NJ. And that’s not bad for the area.
How are the schools? I heard they were good compared to NJ.
oh i guess they are like everywhere you got good one’s and bad one’s. they have a hard time keeping teacher’s for some reason. they keep building more and more because of so many kids now. if i was you i would look in the concord or kannapolis area taxes and schools are better and it’s only a few minutes from charlotte. that’s where i lived at when i was married and loved it there. the people where better and not as big as charlotte. in charlotte they are putting in a light rail system and the keep the roads here tore up all the time. but it’s a nice place to visit lol.
hope i helped you some. if you ever need to ask anything you can always get me at (email removed)
oh email removed lol just as an 0 at the end of what’s up there if you need to
mathews is a nice place i’ve been there a few time’s and it’s like part of charlotte. it’s quiet and you don’t hear much trouble there like charlotte.
That’s what I heard. My brother and his wife are going down there next weekend to buy a house.
that’s nice i’m sure they will like it there. it’s really nice. maybe that’s where you should look if you decide to move down.
I’m going to go down there sometime this summer and check it out. I don’t have to move where they are. I want to do what’s best for my family. We would still be driving distance so we don’t need to be in the same town.
Thanks so much for your help.
I don’t want to move to charlotte it’s self. Outside of charlotte is good with me.
Do you live there?
It’s not going to happen any time soon. There are things i need to do first. Maybe next year.
come into the city. I’d love to have a cup of coffe with you.
Oh, I will. I certainly will! As soon as I can take another day off, we’ll make that possible!
neat. Can’t wait.
You don’t have to take a whole day off. I would feel bad if you took a whole day off just to have lunch or coffee with me. Maybe half a day. Or if you have to come into the city for business.
That’s not likely to happen. And calm down - IF I take a day of, it might also be for another reason besides you… Sorry to dissappoint you!
What other reason could there be other then me???? JK. :oD
ok then. Let me know when and I’ll meet you somewhere.
I know the feeling.
Ok. I’ll be here. Unless I get hit by a bus or a cab. If that happens I’ll make sure my spirt comes to let you know.
New York is ok to visit but not to live. The taxes are high and the city is stinky in the summer. Upstate is a lot nicer. More country.
I do!!;P
Hi speedyfeet. I know we had that discussion on your post.
Hey, one more question for you? I don’t know if you will know this but how are the daycare centers down there?
most of the time good. U have 2 b careful though…I used 2 do volunteer work.the ones in Matthews r the best!
u r welcome
Anything has to be better than Jersey
Ok. I just got a shout from someone telling me that Detroit is worse then Jersey. That’s probably true. I’ve never been to Detroit. Sorry to offend anyone for agreeing with my friend Cajun.
how are you doing have you decided to move to north carolina
We decided to wait until my daughter finishes high school (3 years). She has all sorts of issues (learning disability and depression). So we don’t want to move her at such a sensitive time. This way we will also be able to pay off some debt and save some money. We still want to move to North Carolina. It’s just going to have to wait. Thanks for asking. My brother and his family is moving down to Matthews in Nov. They are going next weekend to put a deposit on a house.
I live close to Asheville which right at one hour and 45 minutes away from Charlotte. I went down there for an engagment party, and will return for the wedding. I found the area surrounding Charlotte to be a bit confusing, and the area is too flat for me, too many people. I am picky but I like it up here in the mountains a lot better. Its quiet, the air is breathable, lots of artistic people. The rush is calm compared to Charlotte. I dunno, I am really just anti-anyplacethathasalotofpeople kinda guy.
Thanks Mossy. But I think moving from NJ/NY area to someplace so country would be too much of a shock for me and my kids. The Charlotte area is not as busy as it is up here so it will still be a change for us.
Check out Wilmington, NC before you decide on Charlotte. It’s by the beach, the people are real chill, and did I mention that it’s by the beach!!?? There are also alot of people from NY/NJ that have moved down here.
Not that bad really. Most “hurricanes” are no more than a really bad thunderstorm!! As long as you don’t live right on the ocean, they aren’t anything to worry about. Living on the coast, we do get a good amount of thunderstorms but they move through quickly.
I live on the Jersey coast - we get the thunderstorms also.
Thanks. I’ll look into that area also.
