YOU’RE LIFE SAVINGS
Who gets it and what happends to it.
A few of my friend’s parents have died over the past few years. And my friends were suddenly handed hundreds of thousands of dollars, houses and cars. I knew the parents they didn’t seem rich had a middle class house, clipped coupons etc. Worked there whole life. Hired a nurse for care at home for there last days. They had one child together. Lisa, who is a single mom, lived with her boyfriend. Lisa was 30 when her parents died last year. And left behind everything to her. This is what should be done. But what a reality check it was for me. Lisa has always been lazy didn’t bother her when her parents got sick. I don’t think she has ever worked hard a day in her life. Moves around from boyfriend to boyfriend. Then her parents died leaving her two houses on a lot the one they lived in and a rental in the back. Her father worked for Shell and owned stock, the parents saved 200000.00 dollars. So know my irresponsible friend is handed all this money the houses and again she lives for free, but know the boyfriends live with her. It makes me ill to see her buy two brand new cars bmw for the current boyfriend and a Lexus for herself. She go’s to the local casino a few times a week. I can hardly be her friend anymore just watching her spend there money. I’m sure her parents wouldn’t have bought her boyfriend bmw.
Another friend Rob got a letter from the government informing him that he is the last living relative of someone he didn’t know existed and they didn’t have kids or a will. They told him they sold the estate paid off all bills and would be sending him a check. He received 500000.00. Rob bought a house and bought into the insurance company he worked for. He met a nice lady and now there happily ever after.
I’m not crying the blues but my parents died before I was 18 I have one brother who I raised. I married my dream man had two kids at 19. My dream man and I worked hard at his business. Made a good living for a few years. Until he met his dream girl. I start over this time with two kids and a dead beat dad. I raised my kids they are now 18 and 16. My main goal over the years was not to move around try to rent the same house or apt. so I didn’t have to switch school on them. I seem to make things work out no matter what happens, but trust me never been given the easy road.
I know I should be proud of what I’ve done so far without any help, but I’m getting scared and disappointed and facing a big reality check. That if I don’t somehow change things my kids are going to go down the same hard road I did. They want to go to college but I know I can’t help them go and survive as well. I don’t ever see being able to afford to purchase a home without a man. And no matter how hard I worked paying from 1300.00 to 1700.00 monthly for an apartment.
I’m really not crying the blues I just have to find a solution to end the cycle. I will not be willed anything from any relatives. I’m not asking for a handout but I sure wish Lisa’s parents were around to see what was done with there life savings. If I were Lisa my kids would have the opportunities they deserve.
If you read this and have a quest house your not using or have a rental that you would consider renting to me. Or have no kids to pass down too, please take us into consideration. I know there is someone out there that would enjoy helping me rather then letting it go to the government. I promise to value and respect anything or opportunities given to me.
