Where were you?
You can also watch events on Help.com as they happen
Well if you’re going to get drunk I can’t think of any place better than a confined space with hard, slippery surfaces and a large buildup of water.
Are you sure it was water? If you really didn’t drink anything but water then you might want to go to the doctor.
You were in a small enclosed place. I would recommend having your bathroom checked for Radon and other gases. It is a fairly common problem in some houses. What probably happened is you were exposed to a somewhat toxic level of some gas… the heat of your shower sent it straight to your brain. Either that… or someone slipped you a mickey… and you only think you were drinking water!
Well, I’m fairly certain it was water. Straight from a water cooler. Gases… ach, you got me worried now…
You don’t get drunk drinking water, maybe you took a shower drinking too much beer or vodka, but… When was you taking a shower? That’s strange
Could it have been a flashback? I can’t remember the technical term for it. You might want ot have the gasses checked.
Don’t know… i was not drinking alcohol, read the post people!
How hot was the temperature of the water? Perhaps that had something to do with the drunk feeling. Singing Stray Cat Strut on the otherhand does generally require great quanities of some type of alcohol…did the cats throw things at you from the fence?
Or perhaps you fell in love - that has a tendency of causing some very strange side affects!
If nothing else - if it happens again - and there is really no alcohol involvement - get thee to a doctor to make sure all is ok.
Hmm… got two cats and I just like the song. REALLY no alcohol involved. Love… yeah, let’s go with that.
Love is intoxicating and can be toxic especially when you are trying to figure out where the he*l in a relationship you stand!
So if you have someone you are attracted go enjoy it, call that person and say hey let’s go for a walk - it just might lead somewhere wonderful.
If not, at least you can take another shower!
might want to get your sugar checked sometimes if it gets to high or low it will give you a feeling of being high or drunk and later feel run down or so called hung over
Well, i’m sorry you had that experience, especially if it was diruptive or scary for you. i read the other replies to your post and thought most of them were appropriate, thoughtful and constructive. i hope they were of help to you. unfortunately, i don’t think that i can be any more help than this, except to say that having been clean and sober for 27 years now, i would be horrified if i were to experience what you described in your post–that you felt drunk without actually having drank anything as far as you know. good luck!
I think I was too drunk at the time to really be afraid…
Sevenfold: I’m very sorry. But you cannot request help from help.com. Well, you can but you’ll find no help here. As you have said many times, one must pray to god to get help.
Your drunkeness was the work of satan.
Of course, I’m being facetious! But, you get my point.
.
.
?
I’m sorry, what? Are you trying to be funny?
Hey - has it happened again???
Sevenfold: We have one thing in common. I also have two cats, one of which was stuck about 35 ft. up in a tree out in the woods for nearly 48 hours–it was a tough climb down and she was just afraid to take each next step. Probably treed by a coyote, in which case she’s lucky to be alive.
As for your drunkenness, I have no idea what could have caused it. Others seem to have some ideas. But if it happens again, it _may_ be a symptom of something serious and you might want to check with a doctor. This last bit of advice is something I’ve failed to do several times with unhappy results.
Two things. Tae-Kwon-Do. Black stripe meself.
And I can’t stand doctors… you’re right, of course. And I know it’s stupid, but I just don’t like the idea of doctors. Still, I’ll bear that in mind.
I had to drop Tae Kwon Do due to illness. I’m OK now, but there are no schools near where I live. I got to blue belt with stripe and was very dedicated to TKD. I think I would have made it to black belt, but it wasn’t to be. I suppose I can take a shot at Karate. Similar, but not the same.
I’m impressed that you got to black belt. It takes a lot of dedication. I saw many people drop out when they got to yellow belt.
I don’t mind doctors. But just last week there was an article in the local paper saying people were Vitamin D deficient. The body manufactures Vit D when exposed to sunlight. They been telling us to stay out of the sun for years. That was the final straw. I’ll consume what I choose to and behave as I want to.
I haven’t been drunk in 15 years. Just stopped drinking.
Black stripe. One below black belt. Hopefully get it sometime next year… but I’m in no hurry.
I’ve been assured that beer tastes like it smells. And it smells like cat pee. And I KNOW what cat pee smells like. Makes you wonder, doesn’t it..?
Is there any gland in the human body that could, under certain stimulation, cause the body and mind to act as though inebriated? Did I spell that right? And even then, how would that explain my hangover?
Sevenfold: Has this same problem occurred before or after the episode you describe, even if to a lesser degree. If so, this is worth pursuing.
An inner ear infection can cause vertigo.
A rapid change in the posiiot on your body, such as standing up, can cause postural hypotension [not enough blood to the brain]. I’ve almost passed out from this, but it’s not always that bad and it passes within 15 sec or so.
You can dig into hyperhydration (opposite of dehydration and very serious). You drank water. How much. Long distance runners are often treated for dehydration by giving them fluids when they should be treated for hyperhydration. The symptoms are similar. Fortunately, people at endurance events now understand hyperhydration. For more info:
http://www.pponline.co.uk/encyc/rehyd…
I’ve experienced fairly severe dehydration when doing long distance cycling in Virginia in 100Ëš heat and very high humidity. I’d generally have to lie down on the floor for a while and drink water occasionally. Then I’d take a cool bath. I think I was pushing right to my limits.
None of the above seem to fit, but you know your symptoms far better than I do.
Do you have any gas appliances? You’d smell propane or natural gas as they put something in those to make sure you can smell them. An appliance emitting CO (which is toxic) due to incomplete burning of the fuel could cause many problems. CO2 is dangerous only to the extent that it displaces oxygen ( it can kill ). CO2 might occur if an appliance or gas heater was not properly vented to the outside and I think you might just feel woozy. CO and CO2 are oderless and colorless. Did you have a window open with a car running outside? Any of these _might_ have lasting effects such as a hangover feeling.
Can we rule out PMS? I’m afraid to ask.
What did you have to eat, or did you skip a meal.
Are you taking, or did you take on the night in question [this is an interrogation] _any_ medications, over-the-counter or otherwise. There is a potential of all sorts of medication interactions if so. On a dailiy basis, I take 8 medications orally and two different eye drops. They are all standard meds., but I’ve had one adverse reaction.
I know of no gland that can cause the problem you describe. A good doctor may ask most of the questions I’ve asked.
After I quite drinking, I experienced occasional mild “hangovers” for years.
That’s about all I can think of. Do I get a doctor’s fee? Now I understand why you don’t like doctors.
looks like you didn’t read my statement above
rlt7: I read it. It’s credible. Easy to read up on right here on the Internet. I’m borderline diabetic and have not experienced any the symptoms described. Doesn’t mean Sevenfold cannot experience those symptoms, I’m constantly run-down. I can do plenty of manual labor, but I just always have a run-down feeling. Need to exercise more and lose weight.
Let’s see…
Never before.
No ear trouble.
Not hypotension.
Hyperhydration unlikely.
No gas.
What’s PMS?
Eating normal.
No meds.
So…
So, go see a doctor and let him know what happened.
It could be any number of things and why take the chance that this is something serious.
PMS is premenstrual syndrome.
You may never know what caused it unless it happens again. Then you can look for a pattern–what went on both nights.
when you read up on diabetic seizures ( which i’v had a few since i’m type two diabetic and know for sure) you will find out that you can feel drunk and act drunk even if you have not had a drink and also you can have a smell on your breath that smells like alcohol i’m not saying you have a sugar problem ,but even if you don’t you should be checked out if you have any other spells. it’s better to be checked by a doctor than a mortician.
I’m not diabetic; I don’t eat much suger, though.
Let’s consider PMS unlikely at best. I’m afraid I have the wrong, um, organs.
Still hasn’t happened again.
Then I think we need to seriously consider the possibility that you are in the very early stages of a spontaneous gender transformation ;-) !
Unless you want to consult a doctor now, I think it’s best to wait for the occurrence another similar episode of drunkeness _or_ even some other symptoms that you can’t explain.
Several years ago, over a period of more than a year, I experienced some symptoms that were typical of some easily explainable medical condition such as stomach flu and I also experienced some symptoms that were _not_ diagnosed when they occurred such a year of feeling extremely run-down and a bout of hepatitus (non-contagious) along with severe stomach problems (pain). It turned out that my gall bladder had to be removed. No doctor has ever said so, but I think all those problems were _all_ due to the gall bladder problem. If I had kept a log of all those problems, when, what, what you ate and drank, exercise, etc., I think I might have been diagnosed correctly sooner–I often did not even see a doctor for some things and just suffered in silence. Just a thought if you start experiencing different or same symptoms that a doctor can’t explain, you’ll have a running log of all the problems you had, even those for which you did not see a doctor.
yeh it seems like it takes for ever for doctors to get to the root of most problems
i started being treated for allergies in my teens 25years later it turn out i have sleep apnia and took 4 years to find out what was causing my upper shoulder and headaches after running 5 eegs turned out i was having brain seizures
rit7: Yea, as far as medicine has come, it can still take doctors a long time to get things right. I guess diagnosing an illness is a bit like diagnosing a problem with your car…you look for the simpler, more common explanations first, even if they don’t quite fit. And today, HMOs pressure doctors to do it quick and cheap, which probably leads to a delay in recogizing the real problem and then it gets to be _real_ expensive,
yea with hmo’s or in the network by the time you go to all THEIR doctors and still end up out ofnetwork witha referral they have spent twice as much and defeated the whole purpose it was set up for
maybe you showered in vodka? i think that happens sometimes
I’d go for it all, except the radon. That is not so immediate, unless somebody hits you with a radon-emitting block…
When I was younger, one of my friends was boozing a lot on Wednesdays and Saturdays, each time being sick. When he stopped drinking, he continued to vomit on Wedenesdays and Saturdays for a while, i.e. when he was going to a party, also without drinking. But you have been sober too long for that.
It could be as simple as a lack of iron or salt (the latter usually with headache), or a pressure drop. Showering in hot water drops your blood pressure. But it doesn’t explain the cat…
maybe you will never have another attach then more power to you but if you do have another what you going to do,most things get worse and not better by the why you don’t have to get alot of sugar to be diabetic but enough of that subject

I got drunk in the shower.
Now, you’ve probably worked this much out for yourselves, but yesterday I got drunk. In the shower. This may not seem too unusual in and of itself, but, and call me a purist if you will, I haven’t touched alcohol in years. In fact, I can’t stand it.
I can’t explain it.
I was most certainly drunk. Not very, just mildly, the kind where you can’t quite walk straight and mistakenly believe that you can sing. Which explains why I found myself staggering around late at night singing Stray Cat Strut. But it does not explain how I got drunk in the first place. I drank nothing but water that night, but this morning I was distinctly hung over. My memory, understandably, is somewhat fuzzy, and I can’t quite piece together what happened.
So what happened to me? It makes no sense at all.
