When you go to download something, a save prompt should come up, go ahead and choose the location of the download. I’m not sure how to set it up so it will automatically choose the D drive. Is the D drive internal or external? You might be able to physically swap the drives.

hi
a C drive normally is where the pc boots from IE starts from and its this drive that your windows system is on. you can copy across from one drive to the other any file you have on your system and as the above comment stated the command prompt does ask where to save to! please note to dispense with the C drive is ok providing you do a little pc work first and that is making an exact copy of the whole contents of the c drive and making everything on it appear on the other drive.(A CLONE)then your pc would need to be undone and the little peg on back of drive would need to be moved to MASTER POSITION so that your pc starts from new drive.then you can erase your c drive and use it for whatever but why bother its small capacity.i can help more but please accept that its technical and at the risk of a huge post.so just use mouse to copy and paste for now ..to transfer things. hope you find some help from this.

You can’t put anything on your d drive. If you computer is set like mine, D drive is only for system data. In the older computer days it was called a kernal drive. It is basically the heart of your computer. If you did find a way to put things on your d drive, it is something i wouldn’t reccomend. Like i said, it is the heart of your computer, and if you download something to it, you may get a virus in it. If that happens, you might as well just throw the computer away.

I agree with andrew_5. its just that while copying the contents of one drive to the next, you may get a message that says the orignal system data has been altered or changed from its default status. or something like that anyway. The copy data could affecthe way your operating system performs.I guess that is a risk you may assess for yourself. Also note that in copying the contents of one drive to the next you must go to the tools bar and click folder options. click show hidden files. the hidden files help your system work properly they too must be copied.

Usualy, your Hard Drive is partitioned in to two sections.

Typically, C:\ Drive is reserved for the operating system and installed programs and the D:\ drive is for computer data.

I don’t think that switching the drives would work because, you would have to switch the drives while the computer was off, and then somehow, you would have to copy the D:\ Drive data to the C:\ Drive, and the C:\ drive data to the D:\ Drive.

Then you should use the Drive peg and switch D:\ Drive to master position and C:\ drive to Sub or Kernel (Depending on what your peg said) position. then boot your computer, and, if you did it right, You will get your D:\ Drive as a C:\ drive!!!

(THis does not apply to single-drive computers.)

you need to choose to save the patches to another drive, the terminal or window should give you an option.
