To totally remove it you will need to reformat your hard drive and reinstall your OS. McAfee and Norton are the worst security suites you can install. They both make changes to your directory and that’s what makes it so hard to uninstall. I’m sure there are websites that have instructions for getting rid of it, but it would take 3-4 hours to complete and you better have experience making changes to the root directory.

And now that you learned your lesson; next time you buy a new computer make sure they don’t preload McAfee onto your computer before hand. If you ask Dell, they will not load their software on to a brand new system. But you do have to request it. Otherwise you’ll be stuck with it.

There’s something else you might try. There’s a program called “My Uninstaller! 2006.” Do a search for that name. You can uninstall applications using the advanced uninstall option. The FREE trial version of the software allows you to uninstall 2 applications per day. I’ve used it successfully on Norton Internet Security 2007. Haven’t tried it on McAfee, but it’s worth a shot.
