The Lilac Chaser Illusion.

Hey everyone, check this out. I’ve copied this image, and the following text, from today’s Wikipedia Main Page.

A demonstration of the lilac chaser optical illusion, also known as the Pac-Man illusion. When one stares at the cross in the center of the image for 10–20 seconds, two effects will appear in order: One, the moving empty space between dots will appear as a green dot. Two, the moving green dot will appear to wipe out the purple dots, until only the green dot is visible. A separate effect appears if the eyes move away from the center, showing a ring of green dots.

im still amazed. it does 3 illusions in one. the complete destruction of the purple dots is the most amazing. and then it shifts when you want … jeeze. okay so im easily amused.

I saw this one on a site and I loved it then and I love it now.
do a google search for optical illusions and there are some interactive illusions as well.
I enjoy them as you can control different aspects of the illusion. I like being in control.

I remember when I first discovered this effect. I was staring at two things on my wall, one yellow, one purple. Suddenly they switched sides! It was wacky. :P
