i am a victim of student loan sharking from sallie mae.

i have tried every thing to reduce my 18% interest rate. my 800$ a month payment has burried me in a hole. can anyone help me get interest rate and payment down?

consolidate with another lender…might reduce the rates, might not.

I would suggest consolidating with a bank, not a direct consolidation company. Educational Direct bothers me soooooo much all the time, nagging me to consolidate with them. I chose Wachovia and lowered my interest rate, but if your payments are already $800, I don’t know if it will help that much. Its obvious that you had to borrow a lot, like me. Make payments on time as often as you can, or the situation will get worse! Trust me, I’ve been there! Perhaps you could try getting a deferment.
