life help: My Sims 2 game goes really slow. - Help.com

My Sims 2 game goes really slow.

Especially when I have a big family with a big house. It goes the same the minutes on the clock go slower than seconds in actual real life.

That’s exactly what happens to me. I have a computer & a laptop. I use my laptop for almost everything, but the sims 2 is so big I only use my computer for it. I have hardly anything else downloaded on it except the essentials - norton anti-virus, msn, etc. I defrag. it alot so I don’t know what’s going on. It’s got very good memory aswell. I have ALL the games of The Sims 2 except The Sims 2 Celebrations and another small extension - I have all the big ones, eg. University, Pets, Bon Voyage etc. I would just recommend a smaller house! AND not downloading mesh from websites (downloading hair, clothes etc for your sims). Make the house smaller and have a smaller family. It will work out much better and it’s what I have did. You shouldn’t have to do all this but it’s the cheapest way unless you want to go out and buy a bigger RAM which is just too much hassle. Hope I helped :D

Yes that’s exactly what happened to me. My Mom get so mad because if eats up all of the memory bc I have every Sims 2 expansion pack. WHen I logg of Sims, the screen turns all black and you can’t use internet explorer. My mom is thinking about getting me my own computer without internet to go in my room.
Good Luck With Sims!

I have learnt that sims2 is slow no matter what you do. It’s not your computer that’s creating the problems. it’s sims2 itself.

here are your options if you dont want to uninstall your expansions or build a smaller house/ family.

first, you can defrag your disk.
second, you can download the patch from sims2 page www.sims2.com
third, stop all running programs in the background e.g. norton antivirus.

hope it helps.

Same with me. I downloaded stuff off website and now when I open Sims2 It runs OK for a while but starts getting slower and slower until 15 minutes later I have to restart the lappy. I have fine mem and graphics, but I don’t want to get rid of all my downloaded stuff cause it makes the game better and they are niiiccceee… Actually, my whole computer does the running-good-at-the-start-and-then-slowing-down thingy. ITS REALLY ANNOYING!!! can someone help me? P.S I have watchdog, no msn, AVG and that’s it. Also, I keep getting this msg that pops up and says Search Settings Notification every 5 seconds. ???
