Do any of you have any good volunteer ideas?

I am free in the mornings and evenings and I want to get involved with some volunteer work. If you have any ideas I would love to hear them! thanks

Some areas have horse riding as therapy classes for disabled children and adults. I’ve been volunteering for one in my area (CHAPS) for a long time and it’s really rewarding! See if your town has a volunteer bureau and if so, visit them for more information and ideas. :D

I think you have to be 18 or maybe even 21 to do big brothers, big sisters. That might be wrong, but I remember wanting to do it, but not being able to because of something like that.

I know I volunteered through my church. That doesn’t work for everyone, but if you go to church that is an idea.

I used to volunteer at a Guinea Pig Rescue Center (I know, right? :P), and it was one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. A lot of the guinea pigs came from very abusive homes (the cops only cared about pet dogs and cats! T.T), and there’s not much of a better feeling than seeing a guinea pig who has severe anxiety and psychological problems as a result of abuse get into a safe home, have babies of their own, and watch them nurture and raise tiny little sons and daughters. :)

Depends on what you like to do…

summer school programs usually need someone to work one-on-one with kids on reading and math. ESL programs for adults are always looking for people to practice speaking English with their students. I used to volunteer at the SPCA, animal shelters, playing with the puppys. It helps them socialize so they are easier to get adopted.
