What is going on here?
I have been busy so far this summer, therefore I haven’t been able to keep up with everything on this site. It seems to be getting worse. Why are people constantly being banned? It seems that when seeking help we would want honest opinions and advice. Some of the most honest posters have been banned at one point or another. It makes it kinda hard to contiue here without worry. Please feel free to post any honest opinions you have here.

I don’t know. I’m fairly new here and I don’t want to get involved into anything.
Another question: Why the heck does the Administration take action when there’s no action neccessary?
i don’t know a/one who’s been banned, or how often it occurs. and i don’t know the reasons for banning (although i’m sure grounds are outlined in the terms of service for the site); i assume the admin have reasons (e.g., goading s/one into an argument, encouraging suicidal tendencies, posting personal info). i also note that the last incident, which caused an uproar here, seemed to be rectified and the user re-instated. which suggests to me that you can reason with the admin. so i use that to reassure me.
i would like to say, that as much as i hope the admin aren’t over-zealous, i am glad that there are moderators for this site.
I think sometimes the admins needs to make decisions based on things we don’t know. I believe that if someone was banned and feels they should be here, they can speak to an admin and have their account re-opened. I know it’s upsetting to be banned and to see that your friends have been banned but there are alot of us on this site and it’s important that everyone’s privacy is respected.
Either way, I am certain that the admins aren’t trying to make our lives difficult. They have a great site to moniter and sometimes things happen that we don’t like. Try to have patience and speak to them if you disagree with a decision that they make.
That’s my opinion anyway. Hope y’all have a good day!
Ok… If you are refering to the whole Richard thing… he was suspended for breaking the TOS blatantly… He knows it, admits it and apologize it.
Let sleeping dogs lie.

Whoa… not true. I have been give 3 different reasons for my censorship and banning. Ultimately, they found something from somewhere they felt broke the TOS and have stuck to that. To-date, no real specifics have come my way. All of which I can respectfully disagree with. The final word was I was banned for giving out someones email. The only emails I’ve ever published is my own (like most frequent users have not learned how to get around that filter!)and the PUBLIC email of Mr. Singh, Cnets editor in chief.
I might also add, it is difficult to speak with an admin if you are banned. It is not easy (and depending on how you log in, is impossible) to get into the sight. I was banned without warning, without notice of reason. I went to log in one day… and got the screen, “opps, sorry the person you are looking for has been banned”.
All this being said… the admin staffs administration of this site is fairly arbitary in my opinion, but how many are there? How much training do they have. I am convinced their method of administration is reactive, not proactive. It has to be that way because there are hundreds even thousands of posts here daily… there are 3 admins to my knowledge… how the heck do they divide the work load? Yes… volunteer mods are here, but that is whole other story that I will not touch! My point is the admin’s are doing probably the best job they can be doing.
My recommendations… notify members that have crossed the line… a probation so-to-speak (Even the deletion of a post or reply, deserves a reason.) Be consistant in judgements. Communicate to each other so all admins are on the same page… I’m sure they have their own discussion board… why is it not being used or checked?
My two sense.
Bright blessings~

Sorry Richard,
I was going by what I read on TK1 post.
Guys, give the admins a break, I’m not sure if it’s still the same people running it when I joined last year but they are trying to maintain this site as best as possible, if it wasn’t for them doing their job, this place would be filled with spammers and etc. Another reason some people get banned is because of certain laws that do not allow kids under 13 to be at this site. Kid’s lie about their age and the admins have to do what’s right…
just my two cents

Thank you Seven… please feel free to read my shout box… I left an open letter there.
“Another question: Why the heck does the Administration take action when there’s no action neccessary?“
I’m not really sure what he’s referencing, but I’d be interested to know.
However, on topic, we don’t really ban that many people. It’s hardly required. Not real people anyway. What I mean to say is that, on average, we probably rack up 5-10 bans a day or so. However, these are people who make accounts to post things like, “my poop smells funny when I rub it” or “GIVE ME WEBKINZ NOW YOU *******”. You can hardly blame us for taking out the trash with these users.
As for real user’s, the situation just isn’t like that. I’d say that a ban comes up for review on someone who’s been a competent user less than once every week or two — and that’s not even to say they’re acted upon outside of a warning.
Technically, there are 4 site admins, but 3 primaries who are active. We try to do the best we can to keep things in order and the volunteer mods help out where they can. Of course, nearing 100,000 posts and well over that in replies, it becomes difficult for *any* staff to manage that. (Of course, YOU can help to — that’s what all those little red flags are for.)

Thanks Jeff… I know my replies may read with a little bit of bias (and I apologize for that).. but I am trying to say what you just said. Nothing can be held against the admins… with the volume it is amazing you are not all raving lunitics… of course I don’t know you that well jk ;) jk
Bright blessing ~
Richard
What the heck is bias?
And Jeff, I was refering to the character limitation in Nicknames, because we all had quite some fun with it! :-P
Thank you all for your input, I’m not sure I understand ehat is up with all the changes but maybe I am not supposed to.
I’m sorry, my computer has been in the shop, and i missed out on all this “banning” things. Anyone recap for me??
