I was recently diagnosed as cyclothymic this week after years and years of being treated for depression. I am on depakote ER. what else can I do?

Work on the aspects of your personality and lifestyle, figure out how you and where you acquired it. Often it is fear of life and fear of death, so being in loving contact with God (you can open communication with the Lord’s prayer) certainly helps deal with it. God is love, love is the opposite of fear. Also I have read many books searching for answers and would strongly recommend the book Happiness Now by Robert Holden and The Power of Now, by another author whose name escapes me at the moment.

Best Wishes and if you need any more help please let me know. I would like to know how you get on.

Thank you for your help. How do you deal in day to day relationships. I have such trouble and have developed anger and resentment and I’m usually not a bitter person. I feel like Dr Jeckyl and Mr Hyde most of the time.

I think i may suffer from Cyclothmia too…Im figuring it out…

That Book Power of Now is written by Eckhart Tolle.

I read his book “A New Earth - Awakening to Your Lifes Purpose” and its has hugely helped me.

Thanks…I’ve found a great deal of comfort in my faith. Also seeing a psychiatrist has helped as well. I now take Depakote 500mg and Lamictal 25mg and have therapy every two weeks..Also, my psych. said that she thinks I suffer from PTSD with a mild form of the cyclothymia, due to suffering abuse as a child. I think talking about it as we are doing helps as well. Have a great and blessed day.

My names Suzanne, I have Cyclothymia too, always have just didn’t know it! Recently diagnosed and sort of wish i never got the diagnosis! Does anyone else feel like taking medication will take away who they feel they are or their personal identity because they won’t be able to feel emotions as strongly anymore? Doest this feeling dissapear after taking medication? Reply to: i> small>(email removed) /small> /i>

i’m learning about it in psychology now. GO TO A DOCTOR! they can give you medication. You should also go to psychotherapy. The more you know about the disorder the better it will be foryou and the people you know. ALSO TRY YOGA. it helps with mind and body. And finally don’t drink or do drugs people with substance problems are more likely to have negative outbreaks with this disorder.
