why can’t i make a merlin smiley?

!?!

every time i try to type it, it’s edited out

like so:

Here’s how:
Go to an image hosting site like www.imageshack.us or www.imagehosting.com. Upload your image, and then use the image showing method listed in the FAQ section. That’s all there is to it.

NO, i mean, that’s a good way to use an image-smiley, but what i was talking about was a particular text-smiley… and it turns out you can’t because Help.com now reads HTML tags from posts and replies, and the brackets around the smiley make it look like some odd HTML tag instead of just a meaningless string. Oh well.

yeah that’s it, look at the website i posted.

i think it’s reading that smiley like an html tag, because there’s brackets at both ends. can you choose to “disable html in this post” at this site?

i’m pretty sure it’s the whole html tag thing

but interestingly, it looks like if you include that character you get when you press shift and , at the same time, it blanks out your whole post.

i’m going to copy “words words words words words” into my next reply, but put that character at the front

ohh btw, you make the ¿ by holding in ALT and pressing 168 on the number pad, at the very right of the keyboard.
