Well, if you aren’t worried about saving anything, just slip the disc in, restart, and chose to boot from CD. Just follow the instructions at that point.

OR, if you are afraid of messing up, simply give it to a trustworthy programmer (take off any important data first ;))

I really can’t find the humor in it, but if you rephrase your question I might help you a bit?

Just as Jeff says, if you aren’t worried about losing any personal files that you have on the computer, you just need to put the Windows 2000 cd in the computer and restart.

It should give you the option to format the hard drive.

If you are absolutely sure that there is nothing on the computer that you need to save or back-up, then you should be fine if you format it and continue the install.

You should forget about Windows 2000 and upgrade to XP or Vista. If you reinstall windows 2000 those viruses will just come back to plague you again and you’ll be right back where you began.

The above is not true at all. 2000 can be kept just as secure as XP and, in fact, has just as good support as XP does. (2000 is, at its core, exactly the same as XP, it just doesn’t have most of the “shiney buttons” that XP does.)

O.K. - that was not my experience with Windows 2000, but I did some checking on the Web and Windows 2000 was listed as the most secure system Microsoft ever marketed. Sorry bro. You know better.
