A genetics question…
I’m studying basic biology for zookeepers so there isn’t a lot of info in my text about genetics (yet, that doesn’t stop them from asking questions about it!). I am so confused! I’m not asking anyone to do it for me (I would rather learn HOW to do it myself) - I just want help on how I’m suppose to figure it out. Here is the question:
– Describe the phenotype (externally visible features) you would expect to see in the offspring of a male mammal homozygous for the dominant characteristics of long hair (HH) and black colour (BB) and a female of that species homozygous for the recessive characteristics of short hair (hh) and white colour (bb).
Note: I know what homo/heterozygous is and dominant/recessive. But I am lost at how I am suppose to figure out the off spring. Would the results be something like HH or Hh and BB or Bb? So there would be long-haired black, long-haired white, short-haired black, and short-haired white? Does that sound right at all? lol
PLEASE… any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you for taking the time to read my post.
