I am just feeling so sad lately.
I know that its all up to me to make my life better and its all up to me to be happy. I am working 2 jobs full time and going to school full time. I don’t sleep anymore and when I do have free time as of late I just feel like crying. I am right now actually. How can I snap out of it?

well find a hobbie and have some u time………
The best formula I ever heard was work 8 hours, sleep 8 hours, and play 8 hours.
Sounds like you are unable to do that since you work two jobs. Is there any way you can scale back?
yeah u need some personal time
cant scale it back to many obligations. wish I could have some personal time. and I remember a time when I had hobbies.
I just feel so drained but not only physically and emotionally but my ideals are shot to hell and I used to think that my idealism was the most interesting part of me.
I would assume you have to work those jobs. You probably have no choice. And when you have “you” time, that’s when you’re sad and want to cry. Are there any organizations in your area that you could join? Groups of people who get together and go to movies, dinner, sporting events, etc.? Force yourself to join one of those or involve yourself in an activity like running, yoga, or pilates. Exercising will give you energy and lift your spirits. And will probably help you sleep at night! Just keep reminding yourself that you can push through this rut. Going to school and working these jobs will benefit you so much in the long run! Good luck.
What are you doing with your time between jobs? Are you spending it filling yourself up, self comfort and nourishing activities? When i had two jobs I would often veg out in between or waste a lot of time…
There are no easy answers, but time management can have a huge impact on your life as I am sure you know.
Cant help you here sorry
actually I started a dance class the first lesson is today between jobs. good idea?
my major is lit. and the health insurance company says that if I am not a full time student I can’t be on my parents insurance anymore which is the only bill i dont have to pay.
im getting lost in this subject now………
I think dance is an excellent way to spend your free time. How long until you are done with school?
at the rate i am going. two or three more years.
well when u first posted this i understood but when it got into paying bills i got lost….im 13
Why two jobs? Are you needing to pay tuition? Can you get a student loan to ease the burden?
yea thats true I take 16 one extra online class that I do on the weekends. its just that the two jobs plus five classes (thats next semester over the summer I am taking 9 credits which i think is a bit much, cause the classes are everyday)
yes I pay rent and tuition and everything but insurance.
I could take loans I think cause I have been building credit pretty good its just my parents cant and wont co-sign cause they filed bankruptcy.
I was going to mention taking a dance class! Those sometime seem cheesy to people though. :) I think it’s a great idea though. I’m jealous–I’m not coordinated enough to be successful at dancing. Congrats to you for signing up though! I think that’s great….. I was a lit major, too. I worked two jobs while attending school full-time also. It was NOT easy, but I promise you it will be worth it. And you will be stronger for it! I know now that I can handle quite a workload because of how I juggled work and school then. So just keep in mind that this will all pay off. Too many people find excuses for not going to college, so congrats to you for sticking with it in spite of your financial contstraints!
Do you have a grandparent, another relative, or close friend who could co-sign for you? Loans would help you out a lot.
I agree with anonymous find out what assistance are available to you through the financial aide office. Also if you can try to limit the credits to the minimum to be considered a full time student, it is better to take longer to finish then to jepordize your mental health.
Oh and another thing: I admire you and the sacrifices you are making for a better future! You should feel proud of yourself too!
i have thought about the restaurant thing before its just the idea of a third thankless job thats stopping me.
I have two good jobs right now (paralegal and field coordinator for a local pres. campaign) they pay well and they are both in careers i am considering.
I know however that if I do quit my job and work at a restaurant in town that I only have to work one job. Is that a good idea?
thanx anon and ny (and basically everybody) i will talk to the aid office soon unfortunately I already paid for school this morning during my ‘lunch’.
Can I still get a loan?
I would cry if I had your schedule too–when I worked constantly I felt hopeless and bleak. If you take 12 hours you should qualify for your parent’s insurance. Also, you should be able to get a loan without a cosigner (but check on that). In the meanwhile, try to enjoy any private moment–listen to your favorite music/a book on tape while driving…I used to rub my feet at work in the restroom or step outside and look at something flowering or pretty.
Can you afford to work fewer hours?
And what exactly are you working so hard for? You need to prioritize your life and take a step back. The world will still revolve regardless. Get out of the fast pace and escape the insanity. Everything will be ok. Vegas is was to fast paced, get out while you can.
Get up and go for a walk, or a jog, or a bike ride. When I get to that point when I’m stuck on the couch or in bed and just can NOT stop crying and hurting I get up and start moving. If I can’t get outside, I start cleaning the house. The movement and exertion helps more than I can say. It may still hurt a little, but it takes the worst stings away.
exercise IS the best for clearing the head, i go out pounding the streets iwth the hearphones on full blast, somethings singing out loud - hey i cant hear me singing so i dont care :)
do you have a counsellor on campus that you could go and just have a chat with maybe?
i used to keep a diary aswell, writing is a great form of therapy!
take care
no the counselors suck at my school its not like high school where they talk to u. and i think its ironic that u mention writing because i write or i did when I had time.
me too thats wut I mean i have been published and all that. I write for me not for school.
