Big Move
One of my side projects for the last few years has been a website called BF2S which revolves around a video game and statistical analysis of that game.
Recently, the company who produces that game approached me with an offer I couldn’t refuse. As such, my tenure at CNET will be ending next Tuesday, August 28th. At that time I will be officially stepping down as the main admin at Help.com, picking up my bags and moving from San Francisco to Stockholm, Sweden where my new job is at.
I don’t have any plans to simply disappear. :)

You can also watch events on Help.com as they happen

Take care Dan. We all appreciate what you did for this site and we wish you the best. Friends for life. (The time difference will kill us though)
Congratulations Jeff, that’s great ^_^
We’ll miss you dude, good luck with the new job!
Welp Jeff, I don’t really know you, but I enjoy bugging the hell out of you. Thank you for all the work you’ve put into this site, it’s made life for a few weeks be much more endurable, and yeah it’s your job, but it’s also nice to know that you also seemed to take a big personal interest in making things work well and correctly. Made you an awesome admin.
much love to you, and your future endeavors.
*hands Jeff a lobster*
Congrats Jeff! That is pretty awesome. You will stop by helpland now and then, won’t you?
How does the whole citizenship thing work?
ZOMG I cannot believe it!!! congrats - tonnes and tonnes of Congrats!!! *passes the chabbly round :)
Please make sure ya stay in contact. Wanna hear how you get on and stuff - please :)
2 year Work Visa, which can be made permanent later on if need be.
Congrats!
Out of curiosity, who will be stepping up here? Or do you know yet?
Right now, a few people have been brought in to be responsible for maintenance while a full time replacement is found.

We’re actively interviewing now. Like Jeff said, we have someone internally helping with systems administration to make sure the server etc are in fine fettle, but we’re going to slow down new software development for a little bit, until we have a new full time developer on-board. I just spoke with someone this morning who was really promising, actually. In the meantime, feel free to contact me when/if stuff comes up that Jeff would have previously handled.
Also I just wanted to use this opportunity to say to everybody how much I’m personally going to miss Jeff. It has been so incredible working with him over the last few years getting Help.com off the ground. But I am also really excited for him with this new gig which he richly deserves.

Best of luck in your future endeavors.
Please keep in touch, we’ll miss ya like woah!
A shame about you leaving the admin team. Welcome to Scandinavia though :)
wow, what a mind blower - good luck with your new challenges and enjoy Europe.
I have not been here long but I can see that you have done a great Job.
You should be proud of what you have done with this site.
I hope the next person to fill your shoes is as good.
hope you all the best.
Yeah, like everyone else said, we’ll miss you and you’ve done an excellent job with this site.
That’s why you deserve the new job! :D
Jeff, thanks a lot for this time. Lol, I could thank you in real life, because I live just a little more than 100 miles north of Stockholm.
The job sounds interesting and I guess it may be worth it, but I wouldn’t trade SF for Sthlm. That is a small capitol, but the traffic situation is worse than NYC…
But it is beautiful, with water and an archipelago.
Shout me if you need something!
Congrats!
I’ll take your job :P
Except I live in the wrong part of the world hahaha
Congratulations Jeff. Make sure you keep us updated on how your doing over there. I wish you the best of luck either way.

Hi again Jeff! I just read your post about moving and wish you the best of luck! I don’t know where you’ve traveled before but you are moving to a beautiful country with very nice people and cultures. I bet you have been hounded with natural blondes jokes since you live in CA. Your new adventure in life can only add to it and it seems that just maybe, you’ll have plenty of more travels and even more moves but think of everyone as a move and raise closer to retirement!
Hi again, Jeff.
I guess you don’t have to learn Swedish, because everybody here speaks your stuff too. But if you want, give me a shout and I’ll hand you a Swedish language course.
Jeff you’re not allowed to close this post, it’s your fairwell post!! The post has to stay open, until at least your last day with cnet
Jeff, congratulations on your new job but you will be sorely missed here at help.
