‘Kay, some of you know I believe in God, but am not

a Christian, and respect all my atheist friends right to burn for all eternity, haha..Here is what happened, and I know it could be just random life, but listen.

last nite, I was questioning weather or not to move back to my hometown. Now, I don’t often pray about mundane things, but i have been a little lost lately, so I prayed for a sign, to help me make a decision.

So, around 2 am local, i decided to drive to the store. My jeep has been having stalling problems, but it always starts back up. On the drive to the store, it died. AND WOULD NOT START BACK UP.

2 miles from home, 2 miles from the store, and I realize..I have almost no one to call for help. I tried calling a couple of co-workers, who both were up. Both were too “busy, sorry man” crap!

I walked to the store, walked back, tried it again, still no start. i walked on home, lamenting my situation. I made some calls..$70 dollars minimum to tow it, and at the mechanic a minimum of $120 to check it out and find the problem..

Now I am A grown man, but i came real close to crying..I have no money for this, and it would cost even more, because i would have to use a taxi until they could fix the Jeep.

I realized if I was back home, I would have had any number of people to call for help. A friend owns a tow truck, and my Godfather is a mechanic..certified. So, this was my sign, ha ha…and what a painful sign.

I went online, talked in Help chat for a while, then began to search for any info I could find about my Jeeps problem. 2 hours of searching, and I found a forum about jeeps, on a Cnet site. One of the posters described my problem exactly. He had the same issue for 9 months, just like me. He stumbled across a solution…I walked back to my Jeep, tried his suggestion, and guess what? It fired right up, and ran fine.

So, from my point of view, I got my sign, and then I got a little miracle..yes, miracle, cause the answer was to unscrew 2 screws in the computer housing..wtf? no, really, wtf? anyone who knows anything about engines and mechanics will see, this is not a normal solution to a stalling problem.

So, am I crazy? ha ha..I respect all views, but I HAD to write about this..wow again.

would you believe..the screws in the PCM cover are 1/4 inch too long, and short out the circuit board at random times?

My friend… that is wicked cool. I’m tellin’ ya. After the ol’ heart attack, I started liveing the “there are no coincidence/everything happens for a reason”. Oh, I gave it pleanty of lip service before the heart attack, but it turned out that was all it was. When you start living it… and listening to the Universe… And start opening some of the doors the Universe shows you… it’s amazing the miracles you will see and experience!
Bright blessings~
Richard

It seems so mundane, but..it is the most spiritual thing for me in a while (remember, I have an unatural love for any vehicle I own)

But, so many random things..I have looked for this answer to the stalling problem for over 9 months..Spent well over $1000 on parts and services..boogled the minds of 5 mechanics..

but it never died and did not start again within a few minutes..plus, i walked a total of 12 miles..six of em uphill, and lived…blood pressure did not even go up..I knew I was recovering, but WOW.

wow, wow, wow.

Nice story - Question - Is God really trying to tell you something??
Or maybe you just really want to go back home.

I just got a lesson from my wife about the power of prayer.
My 2 older boys wern’t getting along, the situation was critical. She prayed for them. My point of view was prayer was useless unless my boys were willing to listen to God.

By the next day they were happy and loving towards each other again, and getting along just fine.

That’s a miracle.
Prayer does work, I suggest you listen to the answer.
It’s surely the right one.

Answer. Yes, I do think this was my sign..to me, it is just as silly to think that these things happened, 2 hours after I prayed about it, randomly, as it is to think they were a sign.

I do not think any amount of wishful thinking could have caused my jeep to stall right then, or, after i recognized the sign, to find the answer to the Jeep problem I have been searching for for months..

for me, there comes a point when the coincidences get too ridiculous.

and, allen really long name, i do want to go home, but also did not want to give up here either…This is an issue I have been pondering for weeks, but this is the first time I asked for any answer.

Xeno, Barney has a restraining order against me, ha ha

I love it when you get a sign. They’re always so shiny, and have the names of streets on them. lol.

No, seriously… I do love it when you get a *sign*. But, in that context, to me, the word *sign* is totally synonomous (sp?) with *feeling*. They’re exactly the same, to me.

So, when you movin’? Fort-myers?

Xeno - you are truly a nut :P lol

Brian - Funny how a f***** up situation can make us realize things. Maybe moving back to Ft Myers would be a good move? Only if that’s what you really want of course. Since you decided to pray about that, I’d say you probably do. And yes you definitely received the sign you needed loL! Good luck in whatever you do!!

OOOOO, really good one. That one should have been around when the Christian Crusades were happening! Of course, they didn’t have cars then…they could have stuck it on the back of a horse?

ÅKSLOGISTIC, I am just a jackyard mechanic. But I would swear that you have a grounding problem. Not sure! Here go one better shine up those two screw holes on the firewall and the two contact points on the item that the two screws were holding.

I too have used Chrysler products. sometimes their electrical sucks big time. My ex-brother-in-law had a problem with his Cordoba it would start in the start position when he let go of the key it would immediately stop. Went through this for a couple of hours then it occurred to me. All vehicles (till electronic ignition and computer control) used a ballast resistor (drops voltage from 13.8 alternator voltage to 8 or 6 volts ignition, yeah that is all the ignition at the time fired on, hence the ballast resistor) to drop voltage to ignition. I asked my brother-in-law were his ballast was, he told me in the distributor. I told him that was the problem. We went and bought a new one, popped it in and it fired right up.

I also had the same problem with my Dodge Pick up, needles to say I and an Uncle spent the same two hours tracing it down, except my ballist problem was on the fire wall and I had a spare ballast part (really).

I do know one thing it seems Chrysler has a problem with grounding their vehicles properly. Clean the grounding contacts on Chrysler products.

I am Christian too, but it had nothing to do with the greater being and everything to do with it being a Chrysler product.

Techtype,I appreciate it, but I am NOT a christian, just to be technical. And the amazing part was, after almost a year of trying to find the problem, and having it checked out by some truly amazing mechanics, the answer was so simple, so obscure, and I found it moments before i was gonna call for the tow.

just to clarify, the two sheet metal screws, on the jeeps “computer” just below the connectors on the computer, than hold the housing on the com, were too long, and went thru the housing and touched the ciruit board. This would cause erratic behaviour, as well as throw up codes that were not accurate.

and I am NOT a Chrysler fan at all, but only got this particular car because the price was right and at the time I needed a small SUV.

Meantime, I have learned way more than I wanted to about Jeeps, haha

Silver..you gotta read the post..I appreciate what you are saying, but do you see what the very first line of my post says? My belief in God has not been an issue since I was a small child.

thanks again, but I really feel like you kinda missed the point…as for me giving my life for God, what do you mean by that?

Actually I think she meant salvation… as in confession of being a sinner and accepting Jesus as the way to avoid condemnation then living a life dedicated to God.

…but I won’t answer for her…this was just my impression of what she said.

Never heard about that problem before but I am glad you found some good advice. As far as wether or not you should move, just follow your instincts and heart, that’s where God resides anyway…H
