From My Sister: I have this really bad issue at work.

I am in charge of my office besides my boss and my boss is playing favorites with the people under me. It’s hard to work and try to be in charge when they know they can get away with everything and I can’t do anything about it and there is no way I can quit my job.

There is no way I can quit.

Hi Carol and Paul- I’ve talked to the people in my chain of command and they aren’t doing anything. One of the people can only be demoted if it’s an act of congress.

Do you have an employee liasion or grievance committee process available as an option? Are these same people getting shipped out with you so your dilemma will deploy with you?

There is a type of grievance committee, but they are pretty much useless. They don’t do anything. The same people will be getting shipped out with me.

Wonderful!! Have you addressed your feelings with your boss? Ideally you will be able to work it out with him. Perhaps you can ask him if your job description has changed or has the objective of the office changed and you were not advised of it.

I’ve talked to my boss and my whole chain of command twice so they all know. Even if I’m not in charge of the office any more I outrank every body in the office, so they shouldn’t be playing favorites with the people under me.

Absolutely not. They should know better and we are quite shocked that this behavior would not only be tolerated but encouraged through example of the officers. That is very scary considering where you all will be off to soon. Who will be covering your backs?

I know and am very happy someone understands :) It is scary that they aren’t following the rules of how things should go with ranks and everything. I feel like they are just going to put me on all the hard details and give the easy stuff to the people under me.

I feel like I’ll be easy replaced, like they don’t care about me and if I die, it wont matter to them.

If they put you on all the hard details then you adopt the stance that when the going gets tough the tough not only get going they can handle it. Don’t let their immaturity and need to play petty games distract you from being the best you that you can be. In other words, they can only push your buttons as much as you allow them too. If at any time you determine they are putting your life in jeopardy email us and we will stir up a bunch of crap with the congressmen and any one else we can think of.

JoJo,

Please remind yourself that you and only you control your life and the direction in which you travel. With the help of God we all aspire to do good with our actions in this life. I am not a preacher but a dedicated Christian. Please consider another option which seems to bring peace of mind to many, pursuing your own home based business. The start up costs are nominal with most and you are afforded the tax advantages of a business to help defray those costs. I have recently decided to free myself from corporate America and put the profits in my pocket for all the hard work I perform. I know that you can do the very same. Take a little time to investigate an opportunity and visit my website www.thegreatproduct.com/Nulife. This is one business which has a lot going for it and is not costly to start. The support tams are fantastic and you drive yourself at your own pace.

Please remember that you get out what you put in which is true of any business. Take a look and God bless.
