guy help: Should I leave my job? - Help.com

Should I leave my job?

?
I am 24 and recently suffered a stroke and got made redundant from my job. After 3 months off sick I found a not so great job but it paid (not well) and got me out of hte house. It means quite a long commute and it is making me so tired and my family are concerned that I will make myself ill and want me to leave and get a job closer to home. I also want to leave as I am so tired. Also I recently had a fling with a guy I work with and even though I am seeing someone else now I still want him. I think if I leave it will make getting him out of my head easier and I can make thing work with the new guy. I also don’t really like any of my customers. Should I stay just for the money or leave for my own sanity and health? I could temp for money but it’s not a guarenteed income.

I am back at work now and felt up to it when I came back I feel that everyone is right and the traveling is not good for me, I’m just scared about not working it could take ages to get a new job, I know that my health should be coming first tho, I’m really stuck

If you love your job, you never have to work another day of your life. That saying has been around for a while… why? because it’s true. Bring bliss into your life nixevan, and bliss is what you’ll have. Bring stress and discomfort into your life, and that is what you’ll have. It sounds to me you have everything you need to leave this job except the courage. I understand the money thing. Tell me is there a chance you could be homeless? Is there ANYONE that would NOT allow that? Is there a chance you might be walking the streets at 24 begging for money and digging scraps out of the waste can? If this is the case, then I understand the fears of not having the money, otherwise I wouldn’t worry about that. Temp jobs are temporary, yes, but you can make a wage from them until something comes along… and many temp jobs open to full time opportunities. Your health and the health of those around you IS the most important thing.
Bright blessings~
Richard

Richard that is just what I needed to hear, I won’t be walking the streets as my parents let me move back home when I was ill and I still havn’t left! I thought of you instantly as if I became ill due to working and travelling much every day I would have no one to blame but myself. I am going to speak with my manager as soon as she comes back in tomorrow. I feel bad as we are short staffed at the moment. Is it OK to be selfish about this?

Nixe: I suffered a stole a few yrs back…albiet not at your young age. I was 40. I went through everything that you’ve described plus much more. My stroke left me with a seizure disorder and my employers looked at that as a risk they cou, ldn’t afford. They pretty much paid me off and that was that. This was a position I had held for over 5 years…I was devestated. I eventually got over it and ended up collecting disabilkity because of other issues that compounded on the stroke issue. I know all this sounds dreadful but, I have moved on and so should you. If I can ever help you in some way, do not hessitate to send me a shout. Bless you

I think you need to search and search. But until then, the sad truth applies, that many of us have to work in jobs we don’t enjoy, jsut to make that living that we need. Speak to your parents about staying with them one you do find a new job. That will keep costs down, and give you the time and effort to put into the new job. But stick with it.
