band issues

I’m in a band called Murder Escape we’ve just gotten a new member it’s my friend’s girlfriend (who annoys me oh so much AHH!!!) she wants to either sing which we already know can’t happen cause she sings hip-hop (really badly) and we’re a rock band or she wants to play the bass guitar which is my job they want me to learn how to play the drums but I can’t afford to take any more lessons I already have so many to take I cna kind of play the drums but not that much what should I do?

Tell them that they’re edging you out by trying to bring in new blood and if they really want this girl to be in the band, then they should hand her a tambourine or let her sing back up vocals.

If she can’t sing, tell her. I’ve cut people loose before from my bands. It’s really tough to bring yourself to do. Just tell her that her voice doesn’t fit the style of your band. This way you aren’t telling her she’s bad, and you’re not lieing. If bass is what your position is in the band, then make sure you keep it (as long as you dont suck).

Post some posters at a local music store explaining that your band needs a singer. State your style, and influences. Then leave a phone number for people to contact.

Don’t let the band push you around for a girl. If one of my friends/band mates ever screwed me over because of a girl I would address the issue. If they decide they want to keep the girls over you then at least you know where you stand. Right?
