and i like light heartedness. im a funny person and jokes are cool. i mean that the posts that are created JUST for chatting. not the ones that turn into chats. there is a difference.

I don’t see a problem with it. It’s not like the chat posts are taking the place of the help posts. They’re just there in addition to the help posts. Ignore them if they bother you.
the problem is, you can’t ignore them, because to find the posts that you can help with, you have to sort throught the junk conversations that people post in help space. if you want to just chat, use hotmail

Xeno is right, ther aren’t harming anyone or obstructing at all so quit being bitter and leave them be.

it’s not that easy. and there are enough other chatrooms you can go to….u don’t have to use help.
If all I did on this site was use it when I really need it for help, I never would have helped anywhere near the same amount of people

You are right it is not very well done
i know that talking is great and its helps people connect and it helps people. but when ever i see a post headed. “just wanna chat” or “come talk to me” i get angry because that is not what help is for. there are shouts, there are rooms.
Maybe by talking you are helping
you can’t tell me you don’t find it annoying when you see a post that says ‘is anyone out there, i’m bored, talk to me’ that is NOT what help is for
well for some people, i guess not having anyone to talk to IS a problem… ppl can get lonely and bored and the chatroom is too hard to keep up with

i didn’t mean to say it doesn’t help people, but if they want to chat for help, it should say that they need help, not that they are just bored and want to talk for the hell of it
that’s ok, not everybody has to agree. think how boring the world would be if everyone agreed. it’d be like mind control

i wonder if cnet has a myspace type friends network equivalent, then we could just link to that and it would help a lot.
Cnet is the company that owns Help.com
help is supposed to be with cnetworks. look at the bottom of the page, the very bottom. do you see that dropdown that says visit other sites? thos are all cnet sites.

The fact is as you say, this site is for help, and help does not mean just a specific area, help means in general everything, so you have a problem with people wanting to be nice, friendly, chatty and actually getting along?
I think you need to look at yourself, the problem is not with others chatting but in you somewhere.
We all have the freedom of speech, this also means you have the feedom not to listen, and in this case, not to read!
So get over your rudeness and just don’t get involved if you don’t like it.
But just to let you know, ther are allot of people here, me included, that do not like the chat function.
I find it to disorganised and also in such away where so many people are talking at once no one knows who is talking to who and it causes allot of missunderstandings and arguments that happen here, so I avoide it because I don’t like it== see a pattern? you may wish to follow!

Yes here is MSN, but I don’t hand that out to anybody I meet.
Im just saying if people don’t like what they see then why do they go all out to read it and then complain about it?
I don’t like allot of things I see happen here, I could give a list, but i choose to avoide them
the problem with that is ease of use. everyone here may not be able to go on msn. but they are here. i wouldnt want to swamp jays chatroom, and it would be hard explaining that to people. whatever action should be taken should be decided and expressed to the admins in the hope of making it easy for them. it would need to be a somewhat official and at the same time not too hard to impose. thats just what i think.

There are some that agree and some that don’t, it’s called being individual, and we shouldn’t argue over that, its what makes us who we are.
