friends help: September 11th once again - Help.com

September 11th once again

Every year, we come to this point- the anniversary of the worst terrorist attack this country has ever seen.
So many lost friends and family in a matter of hours-
at 0930, just remember those that died that day

So many good men and women were lost…
so many families devastated.

Thousands. If you havent seen it, the list can be viewed here:
http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,6...

To you all, I salute you.
You will forever be in my thoughts, as will your families.

God speed.

Very thoughtful post. :) I have some memories of one of the victims from 9/11 from my childhood. He taught at the university where my father was also an instructor and was the father of one of my good friends from elementary school. I discovered he was on Flight 173 coming out of Boston which hit the South Tower (second plane.) Very nice man who often smiled and liked to joke with children. I remember spinning around in a chair with my friend when we were little girls and he would often tease us about getting so dizzy. :)

My mother is a Colonel in the US Army, my father was in during Vietnam, and I was in the Army…
We knew several in the Pentagon…
Only a couple that were close, but the loss was felt.

I remember seeing something on television about a man who was looking for his lost father. His father was a window washer on the Towers (very dangerous job), who had helped others during the first attack on the Towers. For some reason his voice, the photo he held up of his father and the way he descibed him in desperation made me cry.

I will never forget 911 for so many reasons so many lives lost, two beautiful building destroyed forever changing New York, everyone all over the world, the toxi air that followed, the sadness in keeping hope that loved ones would be found! My problems at the times seem so petty it didnt matter! The fact that we stood up after falling to our knees and grew stronger as people lessen my heart ache and made me stand and brush off my knees and live with my eyes open as well

Jay, thank you for this post…9/11 is a very difficult day for so many. It is an honor to bow my head in rememberance of all those that lost their lives. The innocent, the heros, the children…

It is with honor that I salute those that lived, those that fight to protect our country so we can get up and do as we please each day…

A heart felt thank you to the men and women who stand ready to fight and protect regardless of the cost. Be it the military, the FD or the PD….anyone who is willing to serve the greater good.

A plea to all to never forget.

A cry for world peace and an end to terror in every country.

I was a freshman in high school at the time. Actually I was in a class known as current issues (how convienent) which talked about the current events going on in the world. Everybody in that class was speechless and shocked. I’ll never forget it.

I remember I was on a lunch break from school at the time and noticed the news broadcast in a shop window, the only way I can describe the feeling was surreal.
My heart is with the families today and all those affected, especially the souls lost, may they rest in peace.

On Tuesday, September 11, 2007 everyone in the USA who
will be driving a motor vehicle is asked to drive with their headlights
on during daylight hours. Though no explanation is needed as to why we
are commemorating September 11, we hope more importantly to pay
respect to the victims of that day, show our nation’s solidarity and
show support for our men and women of the Armed Forces.

/me hangs his head low

It’s hard to think it’s already been 6 years since this happened. I’ve always said, “9/11 was the worst day in my history. It was my generations Pearl Harbor.” I get very close to crying whenever I think about it. It’s worse on this day. We do honor to the many police, firefighters, volunteers, and everyone that gave their lives to help those in need. It was a tragic day in history, and I for one, will never forget the gravity of what happened on 9/11/2001.

Alone we fall, United We Stand. The only way to walk, is hand in hand.

I was travelling home from a minor operation when I had heard about it from my Aunty Kathy (may she rest in peace) we did not have the full details of what happened coz of us being in England. The news was sketchy. I got home in time to see the 1st tower fall. I could not believe what was happening. How much I yearned to be there to be able to help. To just hold people as they cried. I was so scared for every body that day. I did cry. We did not eat dinner that night as a family. We all sat around the television watching. Crying, hoping for all those people, praying. I had nightmares for weeks afterwards. All I wanted to do was help some how and I could not. That day hurt a lot of people more so than we can ever really understand. But because of that day it also made us stronger. Now we must never forget and strive for what is right. Never forget lest this be repeated. I totally agree with what Blakeslee said:

We shouldn’t forget that 3000 people died… but we also need to remember every single day that 4,000 children die every day in the world because of lack of clean water. No we cant solve all of the world’s problems, but we should feel a little guilty spending years chanting about our own issue when more CHILDREN die each day from lack of basic clean water than died 6 years ago here in the US from a terrorist attack.

Our tragedy is important to remember, but lets keep it in perspective.

http://www.unicef.org/wes/index_25637…

today is not just about American deaths, but can remind us of the random and useless tragedies happening world-wide

That would be a terrible miscalculation on your part
