Brotherly love, Leirbag, I guess that includes thumping each other’s heads every once in a while. At least it would if Paul had siblings… The nice thing about brothers is that they may totally disagree with you in private, yet defend you to everyone else. Never even got my boyfriend to do that..

Translated from Biblespeak, it means “Be nice to each other.”

Not that hard.

My boyfriend is much too emancipated: he things I can fend well enough for myself. Well, I usually do, but somehow we all like to be defended every once in a while.

Love thy neighbor? Do unto others? The first part seems obvious, but what does it mean “in honor preferring one another”?

Interesting, because what are you preferring the other person *over*? Preferring them…as opposed to what? It’s Saint Paul, so I assume he means ‘preferring others over oneself’; which can be interpreted to mean putting the needs of others over your own (which is indeed honorable, and noble).

Thoughts?

PS. As for keeping it in your pants - Abstinence is all very well, but it isn’t hereditary. ;)

people think because your mother raised you with nice manners, always polite , they got it all over you most of them think you are a push over, reminds me of selling my first property, agents as slick as they come try to talk you in things you dont realy want to do but the end its all about “money talks and b****t walks” being always nice doesnt always work…..

“Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another.”

Apostle Paul

I like this quote and I think it is saying …

do not isolate yourself; with love, kindess and a since of connectedness be together because you know it is better than being alone.

We are all connected. Our actions affect each other … and ourselves.

Unless they prove themselves to be an @ssole — lol *rolls eyes* I aint connected to any @ssoles!! No me!!!

This comes from Romans 12:10 and I study everything from the Bible by trying to go back to the original text:

“Be kindly affectioned” comes from the Greek original word, “philostorgos” which has the definition of:

1) the mutual love of parents and children and wives and husbands

2) loving affection, prone to love, loving tenderly

a) chiefly of the reciprocal tenderness of parents and children

“one to another” from “eis” and “allelon”:

1) into, unto, to, towards, for, among

1) one another, reciprocally, mutually

“with brotherly love” from “philidelphia” (could have guess that, huh):

1) love of brothers or sisters, brotherly love

“in honor” from “time”:

1) a valuing by which the price is fixed

a) of the price itself

b) of the price paid or received for a person or thing bought or sold

2) honour which belongs or is shown to one

a) of the honour which one has by reason of rank and state of office which he holds

b) deference, reverence

“preferring” from “proegeomai”:

1) to go before and show the way, to go before and lead, to go before as a leader

“one another” from “allelon”:

1) one another, reciprocally, mutually

So how do I read it? Love one another as you would love your brother or sister, setting the example by forgiving and honoring each other.

I agree with Skeyes on this one.
Its not just about being nice to each other it can also mean setting them straight on a few things from time to time to ensure the very best for them.
But ALWAYS to be done with an honest heart and in love

I think lol
