Money help: Back in the day, the studios had all the power and all the money. - Help.com

Back in the day, the studios had all the power and all the money.

Now the tables have turned and anyone with a computer and an artistic eye has the power to be a film maker. Have we reached the day where the huge corporation will be weakened by the power of the people?

Do film makers like these guys http://www.aniboom.com/Player.aspx?v=... have the power to overthrow the suits?

The YouTube era is here, copyright is out the window, and every teenager with an imac wants to be a film director… what next?

You’re talking as if that was a bad thing…

Now that anyone can create, film, and edit their own films, there will be more and more stories available for people to enjoy. Not just your general “hollywood” bureaucratic, overly commercialized crap; people can finally make what they want to make, and people will watch what they want to watch rather than being spoon-fed their own ‘culture.’

Home video was always around, this is just the next step. Cool video though.

Marco….. he who has the most money wins, but every once in a while the power of the poeple might impact what he (the guy with the $$$ aka “the suit”) produces…..

If you watch as many movies as I do, you’ve noticed that lately, the amount of good movies coming from the big studios has dropped drastically. Sundance is where it’s at.

If the people stop supporting “those that have the most money,” then they are powerless. In light of Xeno’s point, more and more people are moving towards smaller film companies to get their movies produced, or are just funding it themselves.

If the big companies produced better work, then this might be an issue, but that’s clearly not the case.

Movies aren’t about money, they are about telling a story and entertaining people. That’s the disconnect here.

You make a good point Marconius, let’s hope the digital revolution makes the small people the new studios!!
