How to hotwire a car?

I’ve always wondered about this. Surely this isn’t possible anymore with modern (5 years + old) cars!

Can you still hotwire a car? How much harder is it now? What about older cars?

I believe it’s as simple as finding your vehicle’s starter wire and hooking up +12 volts to it.

Wire colours vary, still easy enough to do and its very easy to access most engine bays to just directly engage the starter.

Modern cars have security devices which make it harder.

If I was gonna steal a car, i’d find out where one is parked up, then i’d target the owners house and pick up the keys from the kitchen or hallway… where most people leave them. Swap the plates with some you’ve had duplicated MATCHING the cars colour and make/model… Then drive away without damaging the car in any way.

Not that I or anyone else will be doing that! :O

darkstar = car theif…. nowadays its gotten a little harder w/ the secret security features, but all u need for a running car is power spark, fuel…. & even on manual cars u can have the key, or screwdriver, in the on/running position & push start it… yes i said push start… this has actually saved me a few times when all my car did was crank & not turn over

you just have to open the dash near the igniton, either by removing panels or cutting. then you find the two matching color wires, pull out one end of each, strip the ends, and twist them together. then find the starter wire, sometimes it’s blue but it varies, and touch it to the wires. the engine should turn over.
