Hrm… it’s certainly not an “exact science”…
I try to be humble about things I don’t understand. There are forces and means of communications not yet mapped by science. But as with a lot of stuff of the alike, the answer is within the person being read. Like when my handwriting was interpreted, actually by a machine, I was told a lot of garbage that I “chose to believe in” because it said good stuff about me….
‘Good leadership skills’ can be anything from the skills to settle a fight between your kids, to those of a president. Even two persons with “good leadership skills” can be very different, like Martin Luther King and Adolf Hitler. The result from the palm reading, destiny telling or whatever, is interpreted and applied by yourself onto your situation, and you believe what you want to believe.
‘You have been on a long trip’ fits if you have been to Hawaii, but also if you think that ‘long’ means going to school is longer than going to the bathroom.
Then you can of course read other things from the palm. Rough and hard skin in combination with damaged nails is more likely to belong to a concrete worker than to a math professor…
A test was made many years ago, I believe by the university of Miami FL. A fairly large group was invited to an astrology session in Miami, and they had to write their names and date of birth when entering. Everybody was given a sheet of paper with some very personal statements about them. The sheets were laid upside down. On a set signal they were asked to turn the sheets and asked to write their opinion (from 1 to 5) about the accuracy of the statements. “1″ was not very accurate and “5″ wes “incredibly accurate”. All test persons were astonished, this was indeed very accurate! There were a few “4″, but almost everybody gave a “5″ on the test.
Now it was time for test number two. So a helper came into the room and moved all papers one step, i.e. everybody got their neighbor’s test sheet. On a set signal, the people were asked to turn the sheet and give their opinion about the accuracy of the statements about their neighbors, but this time applied onto themselves.
…confusion… It turned out that there was only one (1) single set of statements made. Everybody had judged the similar set of statements, copied to everybody’s test sheets! So the real test was about the PHRASING of the questions, making them applicable on randomly chosen personal lives!
And that is very much the technique in a lot of this stuff, very recognizeable if you look for it!
On the other hand, like with other beliefs: If you believe in it and it gives you support, it is probably good for you.
To other people it could be just a relaxing and enjoyable experience. But as said above, don’t take it too serious!
