aha. good question.
I think its like one of those questions that helps clear your head.. like that ‘tree falling in the woods question’..
Did he need to? Its not like ESCAPE FROM ALCATRAZ where Clint Eastwood had to make a dummy with hair so he could work on his tunnel. OKOK, he just undid the bottomof the poster, went in and let it fall down?
It was secured tightly to the wall, remember the warden threw the stone through the poster..
Ya, homewith is right, that rock ripped right through it!! I even read the SK short story its based on and they don’t say!! God help us all!!
its a movie you not supposed to think ,how…..
why not think how? You might be in jail one day and have to know how to hide your escape hole!! Gotta think ahead!!lol….
Thats because you are a girl, I wouldn’t want to escape from an all female prison either!! Pillow fight!!
he only taped the top two corners so he just lifted it up from the bottom and got in and dropped the poster
eye he defo stuck the 2 corners up and let it drop down once in the tunnel if u watch the film it goes bck 2 show u how he dumps dust n stones in the yard and shows Andy picking away at the wall under the poster acting like a curtain wi the 2 corners pinned up.
He didn’t go in the tunnel feet first, don’t you remember the flashback that showed him army crawling through it?
It was pinned up on the top so he lifted it up, got in and it fell back in place.
It’s one of those pointless questions that people ask. I arent sure why they ask it, at no point in the film does it show that the bottom two corners of the poster(s) are secured to the wall. At no point in the novella or book does it mention that the bottom two corners of the poster(s) are secured to the wall. What it does show however are numerous other posters of varying sizes on the cell wall, all of which none of the ‘bottoms’ are secured. Given that in the 20 year period he is locked up, and that he only has 3 different posters, surely it wouldnt make any sense to secure the bottom of the posters. Simple as.
When the warden moves towards the poster, the middle of the poster is securely tied to the wall. It is not hanging from the top corners, it is secured to the wall. The director goofed up!
